If I were you I would quit altogether, Japher. Next time you get the urge, try to think about the worst hangover you ever had.

You've got to establish some kind of workable limit that you can hold to. What could work is just never having any alcohol in the house and only drinking socially.

The born again crowd describes moderation as being the complete absence of drink
Depends on who you talk to. For myself, I might have a drink or two on special occasions, but that's all. I haven't since the summer when I visited my girlfriend.

Others, if they can't handle even one drink, ought not to drink at all. The key concept is that moderation depends on the person. We would agree that one ought not to get drunk simply because of the loss of self-control.

Japher, don't drink this halloween, find someone close to you who does not drink and ask them to spend the night with you. Go to AA because they know how to help you.

I found not drinking at university much easier when I found others who felt the same way.

Haven't drank enough to say that my life has changed. I do know that I have had so many good times without drinking with my good friends.

And so on, ad nauseum (so to speak), until you really **** up: flunk out of school, ruin somebody's wedding/funeral, kill somebody with your car, etc. Only then it will be too late.

That's how it is with drunks.
I disagree.

I only ever drink socially, and then in moderation...but this often goes to the wall if someone else is paying
