Who Would Be A Better Ruler of China?
The Russians or the Japanese?

And for those of you who want to say the Chinese, we already what they would do (are doing) with China. I want to know what the Russians or Japanese would do with it.

For the most part I'm interested in how Russia percieves Asia and what a Japanese dominant Asia might look like.

I suppose you're assuming Japan has collectively moved a bit beyond the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere concept?

Given that they'd have to use force to rule anywhere in Asia after the last go at it, I'm not so sure the hypothetical of "willing to use force" plus the actual "deny or minimize and get huffy about any mention of past Japanese atrocities" adds up to enough distance in that regard. Especially as the dynamics of large, cheap labor pool, and "the resources are just lying there" is the more or less the same now as it was then.

Russia, OTOH - they can't even run themselves, or reconquer breakaway shitholes like Chechnya, so that pretty much settles that.

Kim Jong Il is secretly working for the CIA, to give us an excuse to transfer troops to that theater without raising suspicion.

As soon as we get done with Iraq, preparations to really defeat communism and end the cold war will be underway. George has to finish all of dad's unfinished business, you know...

I guess it comes down to whether they can hold it. China's been conquered a fair bit in its history, but they always managed to get it back. One of my students noted this. She said that normally the Chinese are very self-centered, but in times of crisis they will all work together for a common goal. But this is probably true for any nation.

Well, since you are in China, why don't you ask the locals?

Maybe you go ask the Brits who would be a better ruler of the UK, Germans or French?

Oh, of course it would be the Germans. Think about it...we may finally get all the things we've been dreaming about: Trains that run on time, a well financed and generous system of social services, and the ability to look down on the French without secretly having to envy their laid back lifestyles and long lunch breaks.

i favor slant-eyed rulers over the east to round-eyes.

that said, i'd hope that the chinese would make the occupation so horrible that either the japanese military would then be crippled--permanently, or that you have a situation akin to northern ireland, with bombs going off in tokyo until the chinese get china back.
