Delevent question
Doesn´t the delevent.exe support wildcarts?

I try to make a batchfile for the eventschange in my Rome scn. A line like "delevent ca_b272.sav" works, but it works not with "????272.sav" (if a player uses another name for his ruler).

I´m not a great DOS programmer, but I thought its possible to use the "?" to replace single characters (like the "*" for all)?.

Why don't you just tell the player through the ReadMe or an event to give the file only a certain name? That way you don't have to worry about the endless other possibilities.

The file ca_b272 is normally created when the Player (as Romans) saves the scn (as prompted via events one turn before ) in this year without changing the leader in the beginning of the scn.
But I want to avoid problems and so it would be nicer when I can get the delevent line to work correctly with different leader names (some players may change the leader name despite a warning in the ReadMe or in the intro text)...
However, when there isn´t a better solution I´ll do what you suggest, Hendrik

edit: spelling

It's a pitty I cannot offer you any othert advice on this. But my programming skills are very bad. I'm already glad when I can get a very primitive Turbo Pascal Programm to work properly.

Microprose was just lazy and didn't bother writing in wildcards. My advice would be to ask the player to name the file save.sav.

Optionally something more creative. Or you could tell the player nt to change the leader name, and switch back to the origninal one.
