Just looked at my Profile and seen that I had 1 referral.
What is that? Am I responsible for someone becoming a member?

I think we should start another competition for this question. 
Any way, that's when you look up your poster ID, and then make DL's and cite that ID as a referrer. You get a +1 on your account. Well, some people also ask others to register and cite them as a referrer.  So yes, you may well be responsible for taking someone's social life away from them: they are now spending all their free time posting at 'Poly and cursing the day they decided to talk to you.
