Complete World War II Collection & Conversions

Whew! Very tired now.

These weren't so easy. A lot of times the image would get cut off, so I had to draw in some of the units, but they came out very nicely.

The usual drill; I'll put these in a scenario sometime, and until then, please don't use these units in scenarios; you can put them on websites if you credit my name (of course).

Bernd is from Germany, so he may know Sudden Strike more than anyone else. But it was released in the United States, and I had to purchase it.

DarthVeda, it's easy to put FW units into ToT. The hard thing to do is putting ToT units into FW.

Thanks, kIndal. I think they look funny too, but if I group them up on a large battlefield map, they will look like hordes of little men.

For those of you that don't know, Sudden Strike is a computer game set in World War II that is like Red Alert; its all historical, even the units.

MagyarCrusader, you can buy the game at CompUSA for roughly $40. Its my favorite game to date. It's like a dream game; you can command up to 1000 units at a time on the map. And that's usually what happens in the missions.

I think there is a $10 off coupon for the game at CompUSA, but I might be thinking of another store.

I'm working on it.

It takes so long to convert the pages to the layout; its exhausing and I needed a "break."

www.compusa.com

Go to "Gaming." Search for "Sudden Strike." Then go to "Check Availability" or something like that. It asks you for your zip code; type it in. Then it will show stores in your area, and it will say if its In-Stock, low quantities, etc.

Sudden Strike is like a really awful Close Combat 3 with really pretty graphics. The battlefield visibility is rediculous--ie your men can't see beyond their own noses.

No, I suggest everyone buy the game.

Go to various gaming sites and see their reviews for it, which are excellent.

Except Gamespot, which is the only bad review (it looks like the reviewer used cheat codes while playing the demo).

Well when King Tiger tanks are more plentiful than water, along with Tiger tanks, considering only a handful were made during the entire war, you have to wonder what the designers were smoking.

It's a fair bet that during any given battle the ratio of Tigers to Panthers is about 1:1.1

Also, you get to destroy about 1% of the entire german Tiger production run in a fairly standard battle.

Anybody ever see a Sherman or a Churchill take out a King Tiger through the frontal plate? Or two or three grenades blow a tiger to bits? Play this game and you will find out.

From what I've read on online reviews, anti-tank guns are quite the infantry killer in this game...

DV, are you playing the demo?

And sometimes, DV, you will have AT infantry that you can't see that will blow them up.

And I haven't had a mission with that many Tigers.

"Polaris, can you make your own maps for this game like in Age of Empires?"

No, but I think there is an unofficial editor being made online somewhere.

DarthVeda, speaking of Close Combat, do you know if microsoft is making another one? I love that series and I have all 5 of them, although I didn't like the new Normandy one that much (other than the beach battles).

Close Combat is a series put out by Microsoft. I have the third isntallment of it and I frankly think it plays way better (at least way more realistically) than sudden strike.

It's not quite as pretty (not isometric, at least in III) but it is certainly a lot more fun because there is actually continuity to the missions and a quazi-Panzer General feel to the buy menu.

The Close Combat series' distribution has been taken over by SSI as of the fourth game in the series "Battle of the Bulge". I believe there is another after that and SSI is a company that will probably continue to develop the series.
