Extended city lists for 31 (32) civs?
This has been my little pet project for a bit and I think I have just about managed to make fairly distinct and long lists for the new civs, and modifying some of the older civs taking into account the overlap. There may be some doubling up if the city has distinct names in different languages (Eburacum or York, Chester or Deva, for example). It should be finished by tonight with any luck...

Mind if we use it in the AU mod?

Excuse the delay people, I have had a few things to deal with which has stopped me from completing this little project - I am in the process of moving and we had a bit of a 'medical emergency' the other night so I have had very little free time...but it is nearly there!

At last, finished. I have last week been dismissed from my job so I have been delayed once more. But it is now complete and uploaded. I will create a link to it in the Civ3 - Files section...

Not wishing to blow my own trumpet , Ive already compiled lists for almost every civ you can think of and the default civs. They all have leader lists too. Perhaps we should work together.

Im working on Sci-lists at the moment, or rather, I intend to put sci lists together...but no-ones helping. SO it'll take ages.

Good work with the list. Here are some spelling corrections for the German cities:

Konigsberg -> Königsberg
Munich -> München
Heidelburg -> Heidelberg (don't know why Firaxis screwed this one)
Nuremberg -> Nürnberg
Cologne -> Köln
Dusseldorf -> Düsseldorf (Dusseldorf would be Dolt's village)
Tossens -> never heard of that. Even if it exists, it's completely unimportant
Buchum -> Bochum
Münchengladbach -> Mönchengladbach

Great idea but because I'm Dutch I looked at the Netherlands list and have some comments about that one.

I hoped you would have removed the very strange dutch cities on the list with less then 5000 inhabitants with no importance at all.
Like Holwerd, Harlingen and Lauwersoog. I think they added them in the assumption they were harbourtowns but in real live they're only places were the ferry's to the Waddenisles in the North of the country leave.

Furthermore you put 's-Hertogenbosch and Hertogenbosch on the list. Thats the same town of which only the first one is in the correct spelling but it is also known and refered too as Den Bosch.

At the end of the list you also put some Flemish Belgian cities. That's OK because Belgium was in history an important part of the Netherlands, but those cities like Antwerpen and Brussel should be much higher on the list, since in history (and even today) are very important. And I don't think Luik or better known in the English and French speaking world as Liege should be on the list at all as it is French (or Walloon more correctly) speaking and although ones part of the country it's not part of the Dutch civilization.
And if you put some colonycity names on the list then Batavia (today Jakarta) , Oranjestad, Fort Zeelandia (today Paramaribo) and Nieuw Amsterdam (today New York) should be on the list too. Arecibo shouldn't though.

I hope this helps a bit to make a better Citylist for the Netherlands.

I added your Scandinavian city list to civ3. But you've removed Copenhagen, strange... Why'd you do that? Copenhagen is the largest city in Scandinavia.

Back to the old civ3 city list.

Perhaps because he limited his choice to cities in Europe and not in Gondor?

Well, remember what they say: DIY

Bear in mind I have done very little with the lists of the PtW/Civ3 civs apart from where there is blatant overlap, eg, Babylonians and Sumerians - they are basically the same as the original extended lists provided by thingamybob who's name I can't remember which has been installed on my system. My only work came with the new civs...and bear in mind that to get a large number of Dutch cities, for example, you have to use some pretty small towns or other such places involved in their history.

Remember, you can change some of the lists yourself...I did very little work with the Scandinavian list from the last extended city list for PtW, which looks very similar to the civ2 list. Now I could, in theory, analyse the lists of all the other civs, and I probably will, but that will be a far longer project.

wrt Munich and Nuremberg, those are the English spellings. Even my history textbook uses them.

The thing about overlapping city lists is that the game skips over a city if it has already been built by another civ. So in the case of, say, Greece and Egypt, it's ok to put Thebes in the Greek list, because if Egypt is in the game, they will get the name first. In a game with the Greeks but no Egyptians, the Greeks will be able to found Thebes.

Yeah, true enough I suppose, but this duplication isn't actually necessary. Besides I am working on version 2 which will alter the original civ/PTW lists too...it is in the works although will be a while yet.
