IE security warning
Quote:
Microsoft has yet to patch the flaws. But users can protect themselves against the flaws by disabling active scripting or by using an alternative browser.

Thomas Kristensen, CTO of security Web site Secunia, told The Register that the five distinct vulns could used in combination to install executables (viruses, Trojans and porn diallers). Secunia describes the vulnerabilities as "extremely critical".

You should disable Active Scipting for now (except for the Windows Update site) and the forseeable future.

Oh.

Go into Internet Options from the Control Panel (or Options in IE), choose the Security tab. Scroll down. You should see some choices wrt Active Scripting. I usually disable all of them to save time. You can add the Windows update site ("*.windowsupdate.microsft.com" IIRC) to the trusted sites list and give it a lower security rating so you can use it without messing with the settings every time.

However, since I don't have a Windows computer in front of me, somebody else needs to show you how to do that bit.

Opera is ugly.

I've tried Opera, Mozilla, Netscape, and IE, and IE has the best interface, fastest rendering, and least buggy rendering.

You gotta be kidding. IE's rendering is furtherest from W3 standards, and its support for CSS is the worst.

In fact, I found it renders slower than Mozilla, and much slower than Firebird.

Well, because of a weird bug in the Content Advisor, I've been forced to switch from IE for a while, and while of the others I'd say Opera is my favorite, they are all bad.

what's wrong with you people? why can't you see the beauty inherent in all good browsers: ie, opera, mozilla, konqueror... for shame, you're platform-ist and program-ist!

go to la, you insensitive freaks!

Opera is skinnable and pretty much every part of the interface can be moved around wherever you want...

You must be using another Opera than I am.

BTW, I haven't seen Asher in this thread? Did he come back since his ban?

Same question for Agathon btw, did he come back since the Mac-forum drama?

Is Mozilla, Opera, or any other thing that intelligent handsome powerful people use affected?

Or is it just IE and its slug users?
