My geographical knowledge leaves a little to be desired so I went in search of maps to aid me in Rise of Rome and found a terrific site:

Here you'll find history and good maps of the empire at different times -- beginning to end.

As it turns out, I've been doing it the way the Romans did -- in the early development, anyway.
