After a building has existed for 1000 years it doubles its culture output.

I always thought it was once every 1000 years, but I just now found out that it wasn´t so

In later antiquity Artemis was primarily known as goddess of the hunt, maidens and the moon (she shared the moon with Hecate). Her brother was Apollo, the Sun God. However in earlier antiquity she was also known as a healing goddess and mother - and one who spread disease when unhappy or cured it when happy. The Great Temple (if they're thinking of the one I'm thinking of) was huge - and also a massive hospital.

You may be thinking of Tourist Attractions. They start earning money after a millenia.

Pyramids AND Artemis then...

(I can dream)
So long as we're dreaming, we may as well throw in the Oracle...give those free temples an additional boost!

Heck, while we're dreaming, why not all wonders, except Manhattan...

If you saved the game before using the GSL, experiment Pyramid vs. the Great Lib. I did it with an ultra early GSL on Emp. using the Persians. I tried both and much more sucess using the Great Lib. Not having to worry about being way behind in Tech.(as I was using the Pyramid) and was able to keep upgrading Spear to Pikeman to Musket, and I produced cheap Warriors-then upgraded them to Immortal(I know-non vet units suck), but I had enough to over run 3-4 cities from the other 5 civs around me-just enough to keep them from reaching a level to threaten me. It also gave me enough gold(research at 0-lux at 10%) to establish Embassies with everyone, and the power to trade Tech an/or gold to the less fortunate for alliances when I was provoked. I am convinced the Great Library is the way to go. If you can find a way to get both-enjoy your domination/cultural victory.

You can probably manage to get both the Pyramids and the Great Library - especially on lower levels - if you rush one and just build the other (with a pre-build for aid)...I'd rush the Pyramids because it gets snatched away easily, since the computer gives it high priority.

My 2-cents
Pyramids-Yes. I play monarch and sometimes Emperor and never get them. I just got an early great leader playing Celts and built them(Didn't realize it would trigger my GA. In despot too, only had 5 cities) and was able to out settle everybody to choice River land. Took the science lead never looked back and got all the wonders I wanted. Eventually got bored though. Even manually built the GL and rescearched Education because of the slow research. Was over once I got Sistines and bach.

My next game as the Celts. The Mayans my closest neighbors built them so I declared war, took it same thing. Never realized the power of this Wonder. Used to use it as a pre-build for GL and skipping it in favor of GL. Now I think it might be game dependant.
