In some of the higher ski resorts I have seen minus forty temperatures in the village overnight.

Often means prospects are good for skiing the next day.

I was in Cervinia over Christmas. The village is at 2050 metres and the lifts go as high as 3,600 metres.

It got a bit nippy once or twice.

Ski gear keeps you quite wonderfully warm, though.

And plenty of mulled wine sure helps.

Generally, I say I prefer cold to heat. But I was thinking the normal range of temp here: "heat" means the worst of the summer, typically in the 90s F. "Cold" would mean normal winter temps, in the 20s-30s, with occasional dips into the teens.

It was -1 this morning on the way to work. At this point, I might take the 90s.
