View Poll Results: What should the resource model be like in Civ 4?
The Civ 3 resource model is fine. Don't touch it! 2 22.22%
Keep the Civ 3 model, but add quantitative effects. You shouldn't be able to build armor in all your cities with just one source of oil! 4 44.44%
Replace Shields with some basic resources like Labor, Metal, Wood and Energy, and add special resources on top of that! 2 22.22%
There should be no resources for trade, just tile bonus resources! 0 0%

IMHO replace shields with labour (which is produced automatically by every citizen and perhaps by some bonus tiles with cattle, horses etc), and then add quantitive resources which are necessary for you to turn labour into something useful.
