Anybody play the new Simpsons game? Hit and Run
CGW gave it a great review. I was waiting until I get my new computer before I get it. As my computer really is far below the minimum req's.

My main concern is the review said the game is similar to Grand Theft Auto in terms of gameplay (not content obviously). I suck at those types of games. I don't want to buy it, and not be able to finish it. Yes you can skip missions, but I prefer not to do that.

So is the game doable for those of us who aren't that great at action games?

any other comments are welcome as well.

I want to get it. I LOVED Grand Theft Auto 3 and Vice City.

Not worth it... I only finished the first 3 chapters before getting bored to death... and I love GTA

They only use the engine, or let's just say: Part of it... the camera can get quite annoying when walking: The camera doesn't follow your characters movement, when you're turning your character, so if you want to go to the left, you'll have to both turn the character and the camera

And the missions are too boring... most of them are too easy...

that's sounds like it is in my range

seriously, I suck at GTA3 (haven't played vice city). I couldn't do any of the missions. Of course I only messed with it about 20 minutes.

The reviews did say you should use a dual analog controller. and that the camera view with the mouse and keyboard was pretty difficult to control.

I bought it for my Daughter. I've watched her play for a bit. At first, it's funny just because it's the simpsons, but I think that part of it will get old. The first few missions were quite easy, but humorous. We'll see once she gets farther in.

Maybe I'll just rent it for my X-Box .

I haven't really played any game that requires the second analog stick, so that'll be interesting.

I played it at a friend on PS2. I think it was great fun (especcially because of the original simpsons voices)
I can't tell you how long it takes to play all the way tru the storyline as I only played for an hour or so.

I am still interested in the game, but the replay value looks limited. So it might be something I get when the prices gets closer to $10.

But with much less freedom as GTA games. You don't have the whole city at any time. In first chapter you're only able to drive around the neigborhood of the Simpsons, and the nuclear reactor, and the places in-between. In another chapter you're only allowed to go to the harbor, and the area nearby...

I don't like the time limits either. I like to take my time. I wonder if there is a mod to get rid of those pesky time limits.

If you got rid of the time limits the game would probably be ABSURDLY easy to play!

just the way I like it

there are supposed to be a lot of in-jokes in the town. Like you can go into the kwiki-mart and open the freezer and see the old guy there as in one of the episodes. And you can talk to him as well. How can you have time to do that if you are on a 3 minute time requirement to finish the mission?

or can you browse around town in between missions?

You can do the mission more than once, so you can take your time the first time to get the feel, and the jokes, then go back and do it seriously.

I haven't tried it, but i think x-play with all of its crappy jokes gave it a 4 out of 5 which isn't bad, but they also gave vice city a 4 out of 5. so its kind of up in the air. I think they only did that to get people talking about them more, b/c they need to stand out against other big name sites like ugo and what not

well CGW gave it an excellent review. It was either 4 1/2 or 5 stars I believe.

And Vice City they gave 5 stars.
