Resource Statistics
I would love to be able to see detailed statistics on the state of my civilization. One way to helo achieve this would be to have a screen where you could see statistics on your production of resources. For examply, it could tell you how many barrels per day of oil your civilization is producing, how many millions of tons of coal, etc. Would anyone alse like to see that?

I miss the SMAC information screens. You could know anything at all about your empire. It was great.

Agreed. I missed at some points a little more feedback in Civ3 (and other civgames too). This would add much more feeling of "leading" a Nation.

I suspect that many fans would appreciate more data. It could be done so that it is not required and is strictly optional. This way those that like it can use it and those that don't can ignore it.

So no extra work is dropped on player that do not care.

Make it optional? That's easy. Just put the info in one of the advisor screens. You can go through the whole game without ever accessing any of them.

Speaking of advisors, does anyone else miss those guys from Civ 2?

p.s. Aussie Lurker: I think you should go to !!!-anonymous! I think you're addicted to using !'s!!!!!

[Xorbon] Yes, I don't think I've ever seen a sentence from Aussie Lurker that doesn't end in an exclamation mark! I think he's just a little excitable! But that's part of his charm!

We do, of course, have the F11 screen at the moment. But I would like to see lots more info there too. Lots and lots!

I would like to see one combined data screen and then seperate screens where the date is broken down ( to a very detailed level)

IN Civ3 (can't remember back beyond that) the Demographics screen shows GNP, Mfg and Productivity. I would love to see a more detailed breakdown, general ideas include:

GNP broken down between luxuries, science and taxes. That way you can see if you are making more wealth than others, more science, or bogged down in making peoples lives decadent.

A measure of Mfg being used efficiently. This can be measured based on the number of sheilds wasted because of overflow when building units and improvements.

Oh, and a graphs page would be great - you can chart the rates of growth of populations, GNPs, well pretty much whatever.

Well, yes, that would be useful

Civ is a spreadsheet game- that's what made it great

as long as they make the spreadsheet either very utilitarian (like civ II) or very cartoony (like Civ I) I'll be happy

Hopefully they won't make it too glossy (like Civ III)
