Inca Scout with 3 movement points
Is it good idea or not?
1.1.3 stats, 20 shields, normal movement (no bonuses on hills or mountains).

Could be a great scout or pillager.

But is it balanced?

And what about:
1.1.1 stats, 20 shields, all as road?

Better scout, but bad for combat.

3 movement points in the ancient age might be too poweful, since many borders have not yet expanded and you can get surprise attacks without any time to react. I like it though, in fact it's discussed below:

The idea of the "ATAR" Chasqui isn't new if you catch my drift - unfortunately in the early game, it becomes a *very* dominating scout, particularly on maps with a lot of ugly terrain. The version I played with didn't have the ability to attack; just to defend and cruise around at those speeds. Without an attack, I think it's a pretty decent, balanced unit, but 1/1/1 (ATAR) for 20 shields is definitely a bit much - makes the Inca the kings of hut popping, rather than the kings of warscouts, as they are now.

(Whether or not the 0/1/1 ATAR version is more appropriate or should be what the Inca are good at it certainly another matter....)

Only, the problem with 0 attack version is that AI will never build them.

Hmm...

In what way ATAR unit with atatck made it king of hut poping, sicne Exp. civs don't get barbarians to defend from?

For pure war purposes ATAR unit is inferiot to Jaguar Warriors since it can't retreat.

On the other hand, it's handy for pillaging.

Idea:
What about just making Inca Scout be 15 shields, and give Jaguar Warriors something like ZOC for compensation?

The attack/defense allows it to survive the occasional blunder-across of other barbarians, and the ATAR makes it a much quicker hut-seeker. Combining the ability to skim mountaintops with the ability to zip across jungle at high speed with (relative) immunity to wandering barbs.... very effective.

Don't take my word for it though, give it a shot. In the MP world, after much use, we've found it to be fairly balanced in our perspective, though there are a few that still call it underpowered.

The one game I remember running into them was before any patches on Demi. The AI used the scout to kill barbs and my warriors. I was shocked that I was losing to them, it was with no mods.
