Care to play a few turns and win the biggest diplo game of the year?
Or at least have a good shot at it? One of the original players in the Diplomacy V game finally quit in a huff, after a majority vote of the players rejected his call to redo the last session, because he lost his government after a move by the player immediately before him that he wasn't able to fix before the turn ended (more specifically: the player before moved a unit onto trade-rich territory and provoked a city in disorder to have disorder a second time, thus overthrowing the democracy).

Despite his problems, however, the Chinese player is currently Supreme and has by far the largest military in the game.

Check out the Tales from the Diplomatic Front V thread and see if this would be something you'd want to do. Experienced multiplayers are preferred. The game is on Thursday nights at 9 PM Eastern. Only players who can commit to playing regularly on those nights (missing one every now and then is fine, so long as you tell us in advance) will be considered. Please ICQ me or post here if you are interested.

I forgot to explain "play a few turns"... We have just arrived in the Space Age.

Based on what I know about this contoversy I believe Dangime/Frank should not have quit.

I agree with finbar's post in the other thread about turn order and it's simply clever tactics to use this to your advantage. Mark did it to me in the tourney game. And subs screwing up your plans are also part of diplo games.

As for Elendil, well, I trust him as far as I could kick him But behind the scenes negotiations are also part of diplo games! However, continued warfare against Dangime is not part of diplo games. The world should not allow continued aggression - one turn, one city - then stop???

So, I really don't believe Dangime will quit and I believe he's got till Friday to change his mind?

But I'll up the ante and say that MAYBE I can replace him in this one No promises though; I haven't played since August 6th

Dangime and I have a love/hate thing so I'm delighted to stirr the pot

I would like for no one to join this game please on my behalf, but....... I'll sign up people to replace EC, Finbar, and Berzerker however. Wouldn't you rather play my archrival in a fair fight DEITY?

Well like everybodies mom says, "Well, if those boys cheat, don't play with them anymore." I've started a fair version of the game over at my house.

Leave it go, Bez. There's no rhyme or reason to any of it. Look on the bright side - your Thursday night is now a whinge-free zone.

Actually, Dangime attacked me! And built up a massive army over hundreds of years for that very purpose. And now he whines that he's been treated "unfairly." Just goes to show that his sole reason for bawling the way he has is that he doesn't like the way the tide has turned in the game. Tough noogies, I say: I stuck with it when I faced imminent destruction, and his situation is not nearly as bad. To take your marbles elsewhere because you're afraid of losing is a very Zone thing to do. Ah well.

Well, this is rich: apparently Frank has just outright lied about Easthaven: Easthaven tells me he doesn't want to play an "alternative Diplomacy V" and that he never told Frank that.

Well, Deity hasn't gotten back to me about whether he wants to play for sure yet, and Xkalliber would like to play still, as the Chinese. This is what I told him about the Chinese situation:

"your situation is basically that youre at war with me & the egyptians. your goal is to hurt me so badly that i cannot build a spaceship. i am allied with the japanese and have bribed some of your cities for them, so you also have high tensions with them. i advise you to seek a separate peace w/ egyptians & make alliance with vikings."

Sound fair enough to the rest of y'all?
