*sigh* Since you went to so much trouble Deity, who's a clever boy with the formatting, my views are:

Bribe Human city: NO
Bribe Ai cities and units: YES
Bribe Human Units: NO
Alliances: Agree with finbar - only when number of players is even.
Simult war: Yes please.

A few recent excerpts from posts:
---
AH:
"As far as I am concerned, no unit bribe was agreed. In fact I won't play in games with unit bribe because I think it’s farcical. I've said it over and over again at the start of play and as far as I'm aware no one has objected. So we better sort this out pronto."

Finbar:
"Yes, you've said it, but it's never been decided by vote. Personally, I've never had a problem with unit bribe."

AH:
"I really wish you'd spoken up sooner instead of dropping this bombshell now. I will not play in games with unit bribe so looks like my multiplayer career with the current group is over as of last night."

Finbar:
"It's not a bombshell. I've always differentiated between unit and city bribe. The problem is, the unit bribe scenario has never been thrashed out in a VOTE."

----

ahh, a vote would be nice

Well Deity and I had a long icq chat and I think the way forward is consensus rather than a vote. We just play the settings everyone can agree on and leave it at that.

SHlT we only seem to agree not to bribe humans but bribing AI is ok. Everythig else we disagree on. I don't think we shall ever play again

AHorse thinks the way forward is consensus because he sees it as a way of sabotaging a true democratic vote

All we need is finbar's vote and it's settled!
WHAT could be simpler?

Everyone has said they'll accept the majority vote.

We have a clear vote on all the settings mentioned above except for finbar's vote on unit bribing!

finbar, why the delay?

That's a cheap shot Deity - I just don't think a vote like this going to settle anything. There is now a clear division between players who want to play simult and those who want turn based or a hybrid of it.

Excuse me?
Everyone has voted for SIMUL WAR, except me, but I'm happy to play SIMUL WAR since that's the majority vote!
And I know everyone is quite happy to accept the majority as voted in the table above.
Why are you complicating it with another approach?
The only thing we don't have a majority for is unit bribe and ALL we need to settle that is finbar's bloody vote!
Cheeez

Well on unit bribe I think its stupid but in games you are in Deity, I'm happy to put up with it. Other games, or any new games, as I stated, I don't play it unless people insist on it. Its simply cr#p, even more so in simult.

My point about consensus is that with a bit of give and take we should be able to sort out compromises on most things.

Can I put it off any longer? Do I want to? Is this causing me to lose sleep?

Nuh. Anyway, even if it's only to complete the nice chart at the top of this thread, I vote that unit bribing be allowed.

I don't subscribe to the theory that the Civ game mirrors real life, that a single unit represents vast numbers, and vast numbers of troops couldn't, realistically, be bribed. Civ has its roots in real life and that's the extent of it. I differentiate between unit bribe and city bribe mainly on the practical basis that the latter opens the door to lazy play.

Oh, and I vote to allow bribing of AI units and cities only because the AI can and will bribe our units and cities. We have no control over that factor.
