My Proxy/network must be having problems because it is slow for me. But I do like the design and icons

The page splitting will save us the trouble of starting a separate thread when one gets too big, I suppose.

And not automatically including the topic when replying, putting a link to it instead saves a lot of time too. Absolutely great.

I really hate to play the nasty charachter, but here things work upside down for me...

yeah, cool look & gadgets, autosplitting, better UBB, but... I know it's too short a test, but... OK, direct link to second browser window to read the topic ti which you're replying, but...

it's even SL_O_W__E____R....!!!
I don't know why, both at home & at office, when the other say Apolyton is (getting) faster, I can only verify it is (getting) slower. And it's not the present connection, coz right now SMAC forums and ACOL work at the usual pace...

I took 4 minutes to opent this thread, and nearly 6 minutes to open this reply page. I wonder if the ads collide with some setting I could have used...

In conclusion, I like it, really, the only problem is that it was SLOW and now it's SLOWER for me. The web spirit is putting me to a test, I know...

any slowness has nothing to do with the new forums script and might even not have anything to do with Apoylton or Gamestats(another network in between)
in any case it's temporary

MoSe, if you don't like to see ads when browsing, there is a nice utility made by Siemens (www.siemens.de I believe), called WebWasher, which removes all (or most of) the ads from downloaded web pages.

Check it out. I use it at home, and it's quite nice.

Don't worry Markos, I only use it at home, where my slow connection needs all the help it can get to download these posts, so I still see your precious little ads when I'm at work

(And I don't read or click on the ads anyway so what's the difference ?)

"And I don't read or click on the ads anyway so what's the difference?"
1) if you allow the browser to load the ad, we get payed
2) if additionally click on it, the company will see that they puting their ad on Gamestats(of which we are hosted and put the same ads) has an effect.
3) if noone clicks on the ad, they'll think again next time... I would, anyway...

If we sent you the name of a two page thread, requesting that page one be archived, would it get done?

would love too.
As an example, 1 LeeSt turn tracking thread is 2 pages long. since page 1 is not needed, could page 1 be archived?

oh well, it was thought. Thanks for responding Markos.

inna nutshell, what I don't like:
1> not being able to view the thread while I make a post.
2> after posting, it defaults back to page one.
3> more than one page.

I think the icon are great.
I like the new "look".

just my thoughts.

cousLee,

When replying, there is a link to the full post that, when clicked on, opens a new browser window with the whole thread in it.

I like this much better, as I have a slow connection at home, and this saves (a lot of) bandwidth. Moreover, most of the times when I post I don't need to look at what was there previously.

Markos,

I'm in agreement with cousLee, here.

I would like to see the thread that I am replying to, while I'm replying.

I would like to see the latest page be the default page displayed for both Title link clicking as well as return after posting.

Otherwise, I like it.

JAMiAM, good point with showing the last page by default.

But I maintain that not loading the thread when replying is a good thing, for people like me who have a slow net connection. And remember that the full text is only a click away.

The 1 click to the thread text while responding I agree is good. The Default after responding to return to the first page is bad.

Opening the full thread in a separate window while you're posting has a MAJOR advantage to me:

it helps intercept X-posting!

If you refresh the 2nd window before submitting your reply, you can che for last minute postings which make your one obsolete!
(you won't get me anymore, swift swiss )

I can buy that. Even though now I have an extra click, another page load, another browser (which i could do before if i needed to avoid x-posting ) to deal with, and another click to close that one. But if the swinging swiss is happy, then i can live with the changes.
And if the default was switched, then that would take care of the other concern.
