No. These pre-release dates at online stores are always made-up. I think we've been told November, but I would expect it at least a month late.

well gamespot has published a release date and they're usually pretty accurate
according to them it should be out in 14/11/00

I wouldn't plan anything until it is announced as "gold". At that point theres little left to stop it from being released.

Hello,

Samurai is right (I admit it )

To all on this forum: Do not worry, the game will be in stores at least two weeks before Christmas.

Bye (especially for Samurai)

From the FAQ:

quote:

Q: When will Call to Power II be released?
A: Call to Power II is scheduled for a November 2000 release. As with all software in development, this date could shift.

If I were to guess I'd say the last week of November or the first week of December. I don't think they'll let it go any later than that because of Christmas.

Got to go with the flow here and say the most likely thing is that we'll see it pre-Xmas. However, if what we see is a load of bug-ridden pants, I suspect there are going to be some pretty unhappy posts appearing here.

Activision be warned...................

THe friday after thanksgiving is 'black friday' the busiest shopping day of the year. it is when all the christmas sales usually start up. i expect it will be _pushed_ in the last week of november.

I've been badgering the manager of the local Software Etc store every week to see if CtP II was in the their computer with a potential date yet. As of yesterday it finally showed up with a "for sale" date of 8 November 2000. Since it wasn't in the sales data base at all the day before, this may be the latest information.
Of course, in my past experience, the sales dates given out by the companies slip anyway from 1 week to 3 months about 1/3 of the time, so this may simply be the earliest conceivable time that the company thinks they can ship it, not a realistic date. We'll see - and I'll keep an eye on the store's computer for changes...

Did they say WHICH November (!!!)

Seriously though,

Are we forgetting we live in different parts of the world?

It'll probably be released in the US in nov, don't forget, they have to translate it, etc.

The rest of the world will probably have to wait until January or something!

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.........

That would be the logical explanation, but the answer will probably be no.

Britian (I don't know about Australia)usually has to wait until after the US has released a game.

Dunno why, (looking at the recent sim games, its probably because they have to think of a new name!)

I may be wrong, but I think Australia got CTP at the same time as the US.

I don't remember when CTP was released here, but in view of other PC games (ESPECIALLY SIM GAMES, MAXIS) they always seem to be released later.

I am norwegian and here ctp1 was released 2-3 days before the US release.
It is actualy quite often games are released earlyer in europe than in US. But i think we will see ctp2 within the same week.

It is true. Another game that was scheduled for release in europe before the us was "star trek botf", but then the release was postponed a week in europe.
I remember posting a message on a forum that i got ctp1, and that was indeed a couple of days before the us release.
But we will just have to wait and see with ctp2.

If it says the 14th, then it will be the 14th, I cannot stress more that there is nothing in heaven or hell that would get Activision to change a game's release date (even if the developers insisted it was still a beta!)

See, what is the point of releasing the game later in Britian? Its not like they have to translate it.

There are quite a few european games, most notably Cossacks, that get European releases prior to ever being seen in America. Apparently stragety games do better in Europe, generally, than they do in the US.
Odds are 5-2 o a store shelf date in first week of Dec.

I heard that it would be released 27/11 in Norway. Sounded like a time that could be correct. And big games like civ games usally get released almost the same in europe and in america.

First week of December in Britian?

Where did you get this info?

The Electronics Boutique website says November (but sadly not the exact date).

I hope it is November- I want it so much I'd pay £60 for it at the moment.

(NOTE TO ACTIVISION- THIS DOES NOT MEAN SELL THE GAME FOR £60 )

The Virgin Megastore in Oxford says Nov 24 (well, we can hope) and quotes £29.95.

I really don't care what the price is. I'm going to buy it anyway. I could get a copy for free..... but cool games like civ I HAVE TO BUY

I got the information in a store here in Norway. So it seems they are going to release it before dec ..... atleast here

Gamespot shows a nov 14th release, the local borders told me they will have it on the shelves Nov. 20th and the hastings in town told me Dec 10th ::smirks::

As long as the game makes its appearance before the end of next year, I'll be happy..

Strategy Player issue 2(UK magazine) has got a 6 page preview, gives a release date of 31 November (they may mean 1 December) and says it is 80% (???) complete, which seems to raise a few questions.
