can't play movies AFTER troubleshooting
I installed the latest versions of direct X (8.0a) and windows media (7 something). I still cannot see the movies or intro.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks,
Kendra

What happens when a movie is supposed to be displayed? Does the game crash? Does it give an error? Does nothing happen at all?

I see a black screen. I hear the sound effects, but no pictures. though the wonder frame doesn't go away when it fails to play, so far as I can see

don't get music in the game either, despite having music volume selected and having done the full install.

Thank you for replying!

You first need to check if your new media player can show AVI movies at all (as far as I know this has nothing to do wiht the installing of directx 8). Open the media player and try to load one of the video files from your CD X:\Setup\data\Max\ctp2_data\default\videos (X is your CD drive). See carefully if media player downloads a new codec. If it does, than your problem is solved. If it even doesn't show the movie than try to return to media player 6.4. If it shoes the movie correctly than you should change somehting in one of the text files of CTP2 and I cant help you in that one...

Well, that would have been too easy, wouldn't it ?

No, media player 7 will play AVI on my computer. and so far none of the text files has anything that looks obvious to change
