abandoning cities?
I was wondering whether its possible to abandon a city after youve build or captured it. Ive often stumbled upon advanced tribes far away from my capital or conquered civilizations only to be stuck with a crappy underdevelopped city i cant get rid of, nor protect to keep from falling in to enemy hands. Ive tried shift-D but that only works with units. please tell me how i can 'disband' cities...

Thanks

If it's a pop 1 city, produce as little food and as many shields as possible and produce a settler before the city grows to 2. Rushbuild it if need be. If it's bigger than one make sure there is a food deficit so it will get smaller.

Only a couple of options available.

1. Starve population down as low as you can, then at size one, build a settler. This will disband the city.

2. Sell all improvements and let the AI have the city (barbs preferred).

3. Don't have a city wall and capture/lose/capture/lose the city to the AI (note that this results in a lot of free tech for the AI).

Many posters on this board have asked for the "Disband City" concept to be added to Civ 3. Wait and see.....
