With all due respect to a top player... I've tried to offer something for everyone. I realize that the structure of the tourney seems not to suit your specific desired settings, but that's the way it goes sometimes. It was neither set up with you in mind nor to avoid your preferences, but I did hope that you would participate.

I won't remove your name from the list just yet. All nominated players will have an opportunity to confirm soon when I start a thread for that purpose. And, as I did last time, I will try to email each individual to make sure they have that chance to participate.

Keep an open mind about it until then.

Really not interested in playing arcade civ however i do appreciate Cavebear's attempt to incorporate as many styles as possible
War4ever and SmartFart - Please note that only a single round is required to be at 2x2x settings. As many more people play some 2x2x games these days, I thought it was only fair to offer one round at that setting.

I do hope you will decide to participate.

I´d love to be in this tourney, but it seems I´ll have to nominate myself, since you seem to have forgotten about my genius . It looks like it will still take awhile before you start. Most probably I will have my internet connection back ´til then.
If I set up a separate tourney for those who prefer a specific setting, then there is no logical end to the possible divisions. Plus, I only want to help establish an earned "best" overall player. Including a single 2x2x round was a bit of a stretch, and I may regret it, but it is there now and I will stick with it.

And, by the way, you were already on the list.

What a wonderful event! I wish I could participate. It's my favorite "sport". Hmm, Is it possible to have a PBEM one? Well, it may just take too much time, what a pity!!!

Everybody happy
Hmmm, most of you guys sound so............. human

Let's just have a tournament, just for the fun of it. (after all, that's why we play, right ? Anyone that plays to make money now say "Ugh")

I'm 100% sure that whatever tournament setup Cavebear will make, there will always be people that dislike it, right ?
Pherhaps that's the great thing about such a tournament, it's diverse. If you win it, you have proven to be an allround civ player. Pherhaps the 2nd place could beat #1 in a 1x1x deity game, but overal #1 is the best.

I hope everyone will join. If people start to ignore this kinda tourneys then in the future we'll never have them ! Since the more people will complain about settings, the more people will ! (think about that line twice !)

In the 1st MP round, the last-place player in each game will be eliminated from the tourney. Basic settings will be King and 1x1x, no city or unit bribes, wandering barbs.
This is the only setting i see that is reasonable. Although i would suggest sim turns. Me smartfart and zylka played last weekend. in 50 minutes we got to 1ad. That was including 2 5 minute breaks. and all 3 of us having close to 30 cities or more.

Everyone is going to build massive amounts of settlars and settle every square of land they can. Then build vet units in all the hill top cities, or other special terrain they settled on. Attack will be pretty much impossible(unhappiness and attacking well defended special terrain is near impossible). And the winner will be the person with the most land.

This is just stupid... The person who gets horses first will find one of the other players and kill him in the first 10 turns. If you have 0 ocean squares in your cap you have greater then a 95% chance of never seeing a barb land outside your cities in the whole game. And once again everyone is going to settle special terrain attack and will be impossible. (if 2 people are fighting the other 2 will grow past them.)

That's about as fair as I can make it. (Bracing myself for a flurry of objections)
IF by some miracle, any of these 2x games get past 500BC, they will be incredably boring and LOOONG as everyone will take 10-15 minutes to move massive amounts of units. turns in 1x never take that long unless your playing slowpokes from austrailia.

As for diety on 1x being a race to happy wonders i couldn't disagree more. Just ask marke and finbar about last years tourny game. I let mark e have leo's bachs and mikes(I consider them a waste of time to get). After razing 13 cities to the ground, and capturing 1 or 2 he gave up. I had 158 offensive units that i moved in under 3 min...
