Yes!
In fact, it is my favourite wonder of all!

It renders your units completely invulnerable to communist' ones, and doubles the income from Adam Smiths'.

Plus, as an added bonus, it allows you to switch to the government type 'Capitalism', which has all sorts of cool features, like:
-extra happy citizens from the second level of luxury goods (TV's, Playstations, Surfboards).
-the 'Junkfood chain' improvement - which is only available to a capitalist society and doubles your population - albeit only in width.
-weapons of mass distraction.
-barb leaders are renamed to Ghadaffi and Saddam Husseyn.
-your space ship will not fly off for a foolish journey to AC, but will remain in orbit and shoot off enemy missiles with it's laser guns.

The one drawback is, that it takes a mighty long time for this wonder to be completed. But, persist! The ultimate rewards are bountiful.

Ok so what does it require? It soes up in my choices with a listing of like 35 turns but it does not show any progress, and I can't buy it?

He's making fun of you Jake. You can't really build capitalism is more like you build nothing and your shields are converted to gold.

To answer your original question, Jake ...

No. Except possibly in the final stages of the game when there is literally nothing left to build -- an exception is when the extra cash will allow you to win a vital wonder, but this is a rare event so late in the game
Capitalization is most commonly used as a way of avoiding having to micromanage the heartland of your empire when it passes the hundred or so city mark - and you simply can't be bothered to think what to build next...

Hasdrubal did put a couple of smileys in his post - but it was rather an evil trick to play on a newbie ...

So I can't build fast food take out windows

Thanks for The real answer Scouse I figured you would by by soon. After you get to the later stages What do you build with all these cool cities you have. Do you go for more science or production?

I have never been a big space fan although My son loves it. If you are not headed for space is there another goal for your larger cities

Yes, you buy or conquer some more big cities.

Capitalism is not a wonder, it's a way of turning a city's oproduction into gold.

Capitalism is also good for reducing the tax rate and with it increasing science rate later in the game when most of your cities have nothing to build.
Under low tax rate and with cities under capitalism you'll still have some income and a lot of science which is good for future technology (and additional points for civilization score).

Hi Jake, I trust that you can appreciate the rather evil trick I played on you - I couldn't resist the temptation...

Of course, we all had to struggle with some of the concepts of this game. Here's a link where you can read all about people trying to kill a buffalo with a warrior and the like:

That's absolutely precious. By the same guy: "I wondered why you would ever build a regular library when you would just have to upgrade to a Great one".

I read up on this and gave ICS a try. Very effective in kicking the crap out of someone. I get kind of sick of never building anything.

Thanks for the tip
Have a great day
