Animals in civ3...
just an idea but why not have like dangerous animals (like bears, tigers, killer penguins) on the maps that are kind of like barbarians but cant attack citys (or have their own) and stay away from citys, this way it would make exploring new land more dangerouse.. such as in real life..

and then you could make units like nimal trainers to train them thenn unlesh them in your enemys teritory..

Ancient,

I think it is another of those AOK-like ideas and I do not think it is a good one, as both games have different scope.

In Civ3 every unit is exactly that - a unit. It is not a single soldier, it represents a number of soldiers. Consequently, it would be strange if a unit of trained soldiers could be attacked and/or even destroyed by a pack of lions etc.

Conversely, the same would apply to the taming idea. Have you ever heard of an army of lions being unleashed against the regular soldiers?

(of course armies used animals, like horses, elephants etc., but this is already incorporated in the game and IMHO does not need improvement).

Hence my vote.

well seems like its a resounding "no" but it not unleashing them on an army its releasing them in side of an enemys territory which in earlier ages was used..
