It involves a little hack to the rules.txt and game.txt files. It's just adding some more difficulty levels above deity. Doesn't seem to work for MGE or ToT, though (crashes when you try to save). So far, the only proven way to play at Deity +5 and prove it to others is to use 2.42. (Could someone with FW installed verify if Deity +5 works with it?)

To enable Super Deity levels of play you only need to modify GAME.TXT, not RULES.TXT. Find the dialog box descriptions headed "@DIFFICULTY" and add the extra difficulty levels after Deity. Like this:

@DIFFICULTY
@width=320
@title=Select Difficulty Level
@options
Chieftain (easiest)
Warlord
Prince
King
Emperor
Deity (toughest)
Deity+1
Deity+2
Deity+3
Deity+4
Deity+5

Each additional level increases the AI production, science and food advantages and also the human unhappiness factor. Deity+5 (the highest level you can add without hosing up the game) is quite challenging for OCC and probably impossible for multi-city play. It makes the AI a lot stronger although not smarter. Much more difficult than normal SP or MP play, it's not for wimps.

What's the scale according the which the increases occur? 10% each time? 25%? How do each of the higher levels increase unhappy citizens - you're already close to the bone with Deity, much less one more for each level gets you into zero content citizens awfully quickly.

yeah. . that's about what happened too. damn, how is that even possible?
in my first city, my very first citizen was unhappy, and was unhappy even with military units for martial law.

Hmmm, I'm up for a challenge now and then but that just sounds too much like a PIA. So found first city on silk/ river, then allocate 60% taxes to luxuries? Just to get past the first turn?

Wow.

Since in disorder you still get food accumulation, let some of your cities grow early while still in disorder, then hire an Elvi.

Question on the above deal - I know it will crash your government in Democracy - but what about other gov forms? I think it is okay, but I am not sure - I usually just do it periodically at the beginning of a game when I am in Despo or Monarchy.
