The reason why I am against having a Japanese specific kamikaze unit is a lot of effort wasted (graphics, etc) for very little gain. All told, kamikaze units were highly ineffectual.

Also, the Japaneses acted that way because of Shinto, the Japanese religion.

regarding the graphix, i think it would look really cool

religion, so? a requirement to build the unit would be nationalistic gov, which replaces fundemantalism, so the religious aspects are covered.

they may be ineffectice, but there has to be some positive aspect, or the japanese wouldn't have used kamikazes

maybe there shouldn't be a specific unit fot this, instead you could have the ability to choose "make kamikaze assault" when playing the japanese under nationalism and attacking with aerial units. this option would send your pilots into a certain death, but also causing guaranteed damage. this could be used in a last-way-out situation ie. the foreign civ will finish an important wonder next turn.
