Recommend Theben some scenarios
I've gotten pretty bored with the regular game but have become interested in scenarios. I don't feel like sorting thru all the ones at the different sites so I's hoping you guys could tell me about some good ones. 2.78 compatible, please.

There are some quite nice ones that come with 2.7.8 - I particularly like the Crusades ...

First of all . . .
Get the converter to upgrade your version so that it's MGE compatible.

Then there are a wealth of scenarios out there. There are more coming along all the time.

If you like Ancient conquest, try Kull's scenarios.

If you like Medieval Kingdoms, try "Seize the Crown" by John Ellis.

If you like Early Modern period stuff, try "Time of Thunder" by Jesus Balsinde'

If you like 20th century warfare, seek out anything by Nemo.

This is just a start; there are dozens more to chose from.

Salutations,
Exile

The last time I recommended it, it was met with a humdrum response. But, even so, I once again recomment Shay Yates Roberts' "Age of Piracy." It changes the goals of the game, which can be refreshing.

(I'm not sure about the versions of the following...)

Another very unique (and quick) game is "El Dorado" from the Spanish CivII site. Actually, almost all of their scenarios are excellent. "Alba de America" is one of the most popular.

John Ellis' "Colonies III" is a good, challenging game.

Browse the Scenario League, as the scenarios are grouped by time period. That will help you narrow down to your interests what is out there. They have a good review system, too, so you can read what others thought about a scenario before you try it. Also, check out the threads in the Strategy forum:
"Arriba"
"Delenda Sunt"
"Napoleon, Alexandre, and their friends"
We've had fun with the standard scenarios, racing against the clock and trying to punch out strategies. Enjoy!

I recommend a scenario about the war in Yugoslavia, 30 years war and some other interesting ones from the Spanish CivII site.

I also like scenarios about the Balkans in the Middle ages (Turkish conquests, fall of Byzantium, Bulgarians...).

But you can find your own favourite scenarios in the Scenario league site (that will keep you busy for a couple of months).

Thanks, I'll check these out.

Exile, do you mean I need to get a program to allow MGE scenarios to work on 2.78 or that I should get 2.78? I already own MGE, but IMHO the AI is more competent in 2.78 (and goto paths function better), so I stick with it.

Anything by:

John Ellis, micheal jezenka, harlan thompson, captain nemo has my utmost approval!

look around...and have fun!

If you already own an MGE . . .
Then never mind. All the scenarios that are out there should work fine. The only one that I've ever not been able to make work is the "Prehistoric" scenario that's on one of the French sites. Can't remember the name of it though.

Salutations,
Exile

Jules Verne (Fantastic Worlds) is still my all-time favourite.

My personal favourite is "Crises of the New World Order" by Andrew Livings. It is without a doubt the best depiction of the modern world in a Civ2 scenario ever.

KoC, does your version of Lord of the Rings come with a sounds file?

I downloaded Harlan's and it didn't have one. Now the Nazgul sound like jet bombers. I got it from csc.net (hasn't been updated in almost a year! Where'd Hosfelt go?), so I don't know if other sites have a sounds file for him.

Off to get some more.

Or any of Giant Squid's scenarios (on his website)
;Especially the cloud scenario by GSquid.
