Interesting Multiplayer!
I am tired of those reports by Firaxis, saying that they're making something awesome for multiplayer. Does anyone know what is it? Perhaps it allows you to play a LAN/IP game, and later switch it to PBEM one?
What is it?

Miseryguts

I am sure they must have thought of something. Does anyone remember that thread about the patent on a particular term that seemed relevent to multiplaying? Someone find me the link, I can't be arsed

Seriosly, you post in so many threads here, and mostly it's just joking, for example yin's sleep time. Don't want to see your mug banned here, so be a good boy, and behave good here, or post in the off-topic. Aiming for a prince title, huh?

listen, baltic boy
i could not care less for geeky titles on forums about future games
i reckon you really think highly of your initial posting which is basically (drooling) i have heard there's something cool going on with MP so does anyone have any idea. what idea? firaxis - they have none. how could anyone else know. think next time before you start a thread.
there it is, you did not want jokes - now you have flaming posts.

p.s. are YOU going to ban me? going to pull some strings?

Listen here, you Russian boy. First of all, don't call me baltic. Second, stop your laugh posts. I am serious here. I know you all love to offend people, but this shall not be the case now, here. You're acting like an almost-spammer. Ponjal, morda?

If what you said is russian and not some weird version of it, then it's "ponyal" and not "ponjal".

Shalom Eli, ajom tov boker. Emet? Hehe, I speak all the languages there are. And you're not going to teach me how to type Russian. I just preferr my typing method. No, I do have respect for you, as you live in Israel.

In Roman transliteration, I use j's for the "i kratkoe" as y represents the sound with the bI -looking character.

Civ2 transliterates the Russian cities with y's *yeech* and completely ignores the soft sign.

My favorite Cyrillic is "zhe", which looks like two K's glues together. It's so cool!

I am not a Russian...

Eli, pravda, eto y v 'ponyal'

Now everybody please behave like good boys and get back to topic that Solver so brilliantly posted. Namely, what kind of magnificent MP system is Firaxis designing for us. I looked it over and over again and - surprise, surprise - I did not find anything.

Then again, Solver is ADMINISTRATOR, he may know something we mere mortals do not so I BEG mighty Solver to share with us any knowledge he might have on incredible MP options Firaxis are preparing that would work without patches, of course.

Now a question for mortals: how did CivNet system work? I have never played it....

I'm as Baltic as you're Russian .
And I'm not planning to share my knowledge with you, as well. OK, now a question - if you don't like the topic (and you're free not to like it), why do you read this thread at all?

Because I compulsively and obsessively read everything on Apolyton.
Now, how did the CivNet system work? Ci2 multiplayer?

Well there has been talk of some kind of new multiplayer system. I would *expect* that the traditional multiplayer systems would be kept (internet, LAN, PBEM, etc). It would be interesting to see what new things they have thought of...

And cut it out you lot. Damn slavs

Can't even imagine a new system, except for TCP/IP where you don't pay anything to your ISP.

I have got a better description of a new multiplayer model.

You choose hotseat with three players do your moves, print screen and fax it to the next player. And so on.

That would could be called play by fax

I think it is not a "hardware" matter, as LAN, but a design thing. They are probably doing something about enourmous amount of time required for civ2 games. The direction I think they are taking is some modification of simultaneous turns. There was simmilar option to SMAC, and CivNet I believe so they did it before. I hope they pull it out right... on the other hand, it may be that they are preparing a site with support for games creation, keeping score, verifying and such.

Interesting..........

In my version, people would use smoke signals to send binary signals back and forth. And people complain about slow downloads now....
