Increased Traffic?
Mark, have Apolyton's forums received more traffic under the new design?
Every time I log on I see 100-200 users active on the forums, whereas under the old design there were only 30-100 at the most.

What does everyone think this is for? Civ III? CTP 2? Something else?

I suppose that it might be Civ III... but then again it might not.

Could it be the way the numbers are calculated?

When you go to the site a cookie automaticly registers you as online. It doesn't log you off for something like 15 minutes of inactivity. Before, the numbers may of just be registering posts in a certain timespan.

Pure speculation though.

And the number of users has increased, too. I bet it's Civ 3.

Well,
folks have a habbit of gathering were people are already.
And Apolyton sure is quite big...

Are there other big/bigger bulletinboard sites?
I know Europa-Universalis forum site (~5000 members) (But thats only for one game and www.alphacentauri.com has thought me a lesson about gaming sites bulletinboards.)

as for traffic numbers....

i dont exactly trust the who's online numbers that the ubb hack gave. it wasnt the most efficient piece of code ever written(it kept loosing the record)

when it comes to posts, things got slow in june, but last week we had over 10,000 posts, at the levels that we had in may. we cant make exact comparisons with numbers before april, cause lots of OT posts have been deleted

Markos, stop being so secretive! Tell us what percent of the traffic belongs to the OT, the wonderful, blessed OT--home of the true vets and cool people.

Could Aployton deal with doubling or trebling of traffic. Lets say that Firaxis mentiones Apolyton on some links section? Or some similar apocalyptic event?

(I just thought the oither day if soemone of the big brother people was here a lot and had the www.apolyton.net t-shirt all the time )
