Dissident Aggressor- If you set up a long term game on a larger map, it can progress very nicely. Play a game on a small map and things get really ugly really fast. Knight domination is only prevalent in 2x movement games. They are just too strong (as are most units in 2x). If you like quick games, play 2x2x on a small map(What I like to call CivArcade). If you want a nice long term (real Civ game), play on a large map.....even if you're outclassed, it will take your enemies a very long time to do any real damage. Unless of course you play a land game where there is only two or three big continents.

I had a game like this last month against the AI. Lately, I've been trying to set up a good enough defense in order to keep the AI from stealing late techs and just to have fun defending my borders. My border was just like this, except with hill AND mountain terrain. It worked for a while. Then my closest AI neighbor got Advanced Flight and toasted some of those forts which were behind a line of hill and mountain terrain.

Don't forget the power of flight.

Ah, well, I added SAM Launchers and Flaks to my standard rules...

Strangelove -

Would you mind posting the lines from rules.txt describing your SAM and flak units? Thanks!
