The typography and over-all interface is mediocre. A definitive improvement compared to Civ2 though
The only thing that really sticks out are the 3d-elements like leaders, units, etc. These are pretty good.

I was checking out my new screen saver and I have to say my favorite animation is of the guy with the gun. Just before he dies he throws the gun on the ground, then falls the other direction. Looks really good.

I agree with the mountains, but they are starting to grow on me. I would like to see some, particular to the north and south, with ice caps (as stated by someone else somewhere).

Well obviously things are still being ironed out at the moment, so that road over water near Kish will more than likely be sorted before the game ships judging by how much work has been done on it in even just the past few months.

I think the game looks damn fine, can tell what is what and it is all very impressive. As the French duck said, I canard-ly wait

I find the pink-and-white easter eggs in the woods slightly irritating.

For the most part, the graphics are darn good. There are a few problem areas, however. The mountains need to be ridged together like the hills, which look fantastic. Some snow caps might look nice on some of the mountains, too... not all of them(not near the desert). The irrigation does look a bit iffy. I think I would prefer the farmland look of civ2. One last thing, the borders could be dulled a bit, or at least give us the option to change their brightness.

We need 24 or 32 civs, too, not 16.

I'm in agreement. When I first saw the graphics during the early phases of CIV 3's development, I was a little worried that we were about to experience another SMAC graphic deboggle. Glad to see that things are looking much nicer.

Thank you for not neglecting the aesthetics Firaxis.
