I like both games. They have different approaches, that's all. Why can't we all be friends? 2 11.76%
It's always been Civ 2 of course. Why bring that other inferior product into it? 5 29.41%

With the modpacks, is CTP 2 better than Civ 2?
With the modpacks, don't you think that CTP 2 actually makes sense now? I think it's better than Civ 2. I feel more in control.

Things that particularly miffed me about Civ 2 included making sure that the support for units didn't eat into production (in the early part of the game particularly) by having to change some units' homes. Another annoying thing was when units out of the city caused unhappiness even though they were only trying to explore. In fact, looking back on it now, those things sure seem dumb things to have put in the game. It gave a frustration and sometimes a holding-back feeling to the fun.

With CTP 2, I feel far more liberal in building units and exploring now and feel more in control of it all.

Also, the variety with different mods means you are virtually playing a completely different game each time. You could potentially create almost any kind of game you want.

Anyway, what do you think?

Give your comparisons between the two games here and vote on the poll of course.

Unmodded it has great features but the bugs make civ2 better. Modified CTP2 beats civ2 really easily.

There should be a Modded CTP2 just about equals Civ2 option. But then again, modded CtP2 beats Civ2

It beats civ 2. CTP 2 has many new features, and mods make them work properly.

I agree, if I remember the long turns with 200 cities and the 200 or 300 terrain improving settlers, I know CTP2 with mods is better than Civ2, but there are still thinks that can be modded.
