different turn #s to discover techs
OK, anyone notice the science advisor in one of the screenshots at civ3.com?

http://www.civ3.com/previewwin.cfm?m...800&height=600

Notice writing takes but two turns yet Construction takes 24 and Currency 19, and Polytheism 15. Anyone know whats up with this? Ideas?

Re: different turn #s to discover techs
Construction, currency, and polytheism are farther along on the tree, so it's possible they cost more. I think it's more likely that the civ has been researching writing and is closer to discovering it.

Hey did you ever notice my thread, Tech Tree?

I've also seen some sign of possbily being able to research two things at once, go to Snapcase's thread (The *Complete* Tech Tree - Discuss) to read more.

Sorry TechWins, I didn't see it. Thought it was about other stuff, though I should have thought it may have come up in such a topic. Silly me.

I like this, where different techs have fixed values (of course all are dependent on difficulty level and other similar factors). I am very pleased to see this implemented. It was one of those things I would have requested in the tech tree but never quite remembered to suggest...nice one Firaxis!
