Internet is a minor wonder, BTW.

Interview or preview info.

Can't the pentagon be a modern barracks for the Americans?

Look at the Tech Screen shot located here: http://www.gamespydaily.com/screensh...x.asp?id=3190, look at the Theology Advance. Clearly the building I have as JS Bach.

Now that does not mean Firaxis hasn't renamed the building from Civ II. But I am pretty sure that building is definitely the one for Theology.

Edit: Change to the List.

I have looked at a picture of the Sistine Chapel (i.e. Mike's Cathedral) and it looks a lot like the pic I now have of JS Bach Cathedral. So I am going to switch them. I also relooked at the Music Theory tech as someone suggested and found that it looks like the Cathedral that I had not identified to this point. Making it likely now that Theology would lead to the Sistine Chapel and Music Theory leads to JS Bach.

The change will be made to the list shortly.

Thanks to all those that questioned me and had me make this change.

I've only one thing to add: The image you listed as being the University improvement seems to be the same as that of the Great Library wonder. Now surely it can only be one of them, most likely the University.
Look at them again. It appears that the library, university, and Great Library are all modeled in the same look and feel.

If you look closely you will see that they all use the same brick, it is just the library is one room, the Univeristy that same room plus the entrance, and the Great Library the entrance, the one room, plus two more. So they seem to be looking for the same feel but they are slightly different.

What are the red crosses? Why are they there?
Pretty sure they are to say that the tech makes the previous wonder that is pictured with an x through it obsolete.

Edit: Also as a part of v 1.2.1 I am changing what was previously put as Galileo's Observatory to a temple for the Greeks and such. Instead Astronomy will stay as either the Solar System or an observatory that we don't have a pic for yet.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Well, if we still have our barracks scrapped along the way, with certain advances, I would suggest that the building with the crossed swords is the 2nd stage barracks, and agree with whoever suggested that the pentagon is the final version of the "barracks" improvement.

The crossed swords seems to small to be Sun Tzu.

missing wonder
in the tech tree, Monarchy has a wonder associated with it. looks like the hanging gardens to me. I know it's a wonder beause it goes obsolete with steam power.

Maybe those crossed swords represent a great military leader in the city. Perhaps he's defending it?

Couldn't the pentagon be the modern equivalent of the Americans'
palace in the later phases of the game ?

i'm just making a guess here but i think that most likely buildings have multiple pictures, one in each age they appear in, and wonders most likely only have one picture

tniem you're list is great but i have a favor to ask...could you slightly reorganize it? break it up into each age, with all of the techs that have buildings or wonders represented then the buildings they provide...if not that is quite alright, that would just make it easier for me to follow

now i also have a guess about one of the unidentifed structures

i think that the first attached picture is just an ancient barracks

and that the second one is a barracks from a more modern era

notice that they are both walled structures and that the older one has tents while the more modern one has little houses maybe i'm wrong but that is what i think they are

This could also be a prison. Wasn't there some kind of rehab facility in CivII? (again I never build it)

Re: Re: List: City Improvements
It is another temple check
Actually it's a Mayan temple of the Tikal City in Guatemala.
I could even tell you it's name. It's called the Big Jaguar.
I know because i've been there, and i am a Guatemalan

Isn't that what the service is anyway?

I don't remember any Civ2 prison. SMAC had the punishment spheres though, spooky videos for them too.

The second pic is way to regular and the structures too barracks like to be a coincidence. Nice catch Korn, what screenshot did the modern barracks come from? What year does the screenshot say it's in? The barracks looks relatively modern, yet I don't recall any modern age screenshots.

i was looking over one of father beasts old posts and i feel that he has correctly identified the wonder that comes with monarchy

it is the hanging gardens

looking at the picture of it, i just now realized that a larger version of it was on the civ3.com site, when the babylonians first went up

also steam power makes the wonder obsolete, in civ2 the railroad made the hanging gardens obsolete and in civ3 steam engine and railroad have been combined into one tech

good catch father beast

Using Info from the latest "Ask the civ team" update, there is a pentagon minor wonder.

I also suspect the crossed swords are the military academy wonder also mentioned in the same reply.

Hmmmm...
are you sure?
I thought it was the statue of King Richard's Crusade.
In civ2 it was king richard on a horse with a sword and a shield in his hands.

In the latest "Answer the fans" mail, it's been stated the Pentagon is a minor wonder which gives +1 to the maximum stack in an army. So, it's a minor wonder...
