I think that's a case of "Cross that bridge when we come to it".

Civ won't age and there will always be future clones of the game. Civ 12 will probably be the zenith edition though.

Activsion isnt going to venture into an further after crashing and burning CTP2

Neither are we...in any event, maybe apolyton would become a franchise. you'd have an apolytonQuake, an apolytonNews, etc, etc, until eventually they had an 'ultimate' prefix in front of everything.

Even if Civ 3 is the last civ game released, people will only stop playing it around 2006 or so, we shouldn't think about it now.

I woder if Sid Meier would have got a dollar (USD) each time someone asked about this - would he be the richest man alive today?

And what if the official Civ's end?
Right now there are several "freeciv's" in the coming, etc.

I won't stop play it that early. I still play Civ I, and it is over 5 years old.

The Civilization and related series' aren't going anywhere. Yes, some of the titles are dated but they are still very popular (e.g. CivII). And yes, there are new titles on the horizon (e.g. CivIII).

Stop worrying... besides, what do you think you're doing in this thread? Shouldn't you be discussing CivIII et. al this very instant? Go, go, go!
