Moscow-The Third Rome by Michael J. Daumen
A unique scenario that also educates you on the rise of the Russian Empire of the Romanov dynasty.

I wish there were more turns and room for further development.
Made the mistake of conquering Siberia when I should have conquered Astrakhan first. I haven't the Heart to annex the friendly Orthodox republic of Novgorod!

There must be others who have played it, and if so, how did it go for you?
What were your strategems?

I think I played it but it was hard so I quit. You start with one city, right? That's hard!

Yes, it was so hard I concluded that it was not possible to win. I remember there were some hints in the documentation, but they didn't help.

There are winnable "one city" scenarios (Imperium Romanum comes to mind,) but the third Rome was too hard. I couldn't conquer one other city.

Maybe this should be in the art of war forum (even though no one goes there anymore).

I found there were bugs in this scenario.

I built the Leo wonder (don't remember what it was renamed), and it kept changing units every turn, and certain techs voided BETTER units, so at one point I couldn't build infantry units at all!

Also, some of the techs could only be reached by trigger, and I hadn't triggered the right advance, so the AI had nothing to research, so the game shutdown.

Good map and OB work was ruined by poor tech tree in this case.

Room for improvement
Yes, at a higher level of difficulty I can imagine it would be next to impossible to conquer more than 4 towns. I gave it a test run on Chieftain level.

There is room for improvement with this scenario.

The Romanovs got on the throne later on.

It is a hard scenario. I started playing on Prince level and quickly conquered 2 southern cities, but then it all stopped for a while.
I'm outnumbered by every civ except fot the Tatars. I'll just try to defeat them and conquer Tula. I'll just see what will happen next.
