What is the first civ you are gonna play as in Civ3?
Probably posted to death before. I'm not sure so I'm gonna make this thread. When Civ3 is installed on your comp, what's the first civ you will be playing? I mean the absolute first civ you will play as, not when you try every one and then decide the best one.
For me it would be the Chinese. I love the industrial/scientific combination.

Yup.

But to answer your question, it depends what I'm feeling like when I get the game, though I'll probably end up playing England, Russia, China or Greek. Those are typically the only civs I ever play, and I really like the bonus' of the chinese and greek.

I always start out Greek . Really I usualy start out with germany but end the game really quick and start the real game with the greeks .

But now, soo many choices and combinations... Too much to think about now.

Might have to go with the tried and true modify the americans so they become canadian

i never have to look at my diplomatic face do i???

Alli have to know is that the capital is Ottawa, Im kickin but, and the Canadians strech from the top of north american to south america , the caribean, and the south pacific.

Only problem is then no americans to beat . ahh well will figure somethingout.

Chinese might be a nice change, since my eyes have been opend to the chinese people\culture.

I'm going to be the Greeks. I like their bonuses and their early, potent defender ensures that my little republic will hold out for centuries while I construct a massive trading empire. I prefer to play to survive and my ultimate goal is to have a city in Siam, Madagascar, Cuba, Hawaii, Japan, Australia, and maybe Iceland. If I reach this goal and no one attacks me I retire. Therefor I'm goin' Greek.

I'll probably play with the Japanese or Chinese first because my Koreans aren't in

On second thought probably with the Japanese because I love the samurais and their fighting animations look cool. (Geez that's a lame reason, isn't it? Oh well...)

It depends. For the time of my first game I'll probably have read others players review and tactics for a full month or two, so my choice will be easy

On Earth map (Civ I & II) I get my best result with American large and almost empty territory, so I'll use them on Large to Medium

On a small Earth map Zulu and early Impi are a bonus for a quick war, Greeks best second choice for great defense value.

On a random map I'll try a Civ with Expansionist Special for exploration bonus: I love to discover the terrain and take any hut early advantage I can Probably Russia for Scientific special (I love science research).

OTOH Babylonian have the most interesting leader face portrait so far, so I can chose pulled on a nice feeling

Defintely the Greek! There is no other Civ in the game which attracts me like the Greeks do
O.k., maybe the Romans but the Greeks are my first choice!

May I note your Apolyton Avatar is a bit of a hint about your Vikings preference?

My choice would propably be the Russians. Research + Expansion = hey, thats me

BTW, who is the russian ruler in civ3?

And why the Russians aren't militaristic!?!?
For this treason the developers should be :banned:
...but then again, maybe not

Greeks. Definitely. So I won't see Alexander's face during diplo negotiations...

No, seriously, when I played Civ2 for the first time (ahhh good ol' days...), I chose the greeks, so it's a bit of a nostalgic trip to me. (I wonder how "serious" is this explanation... )

Greeks but I'm biased

Also what Alexnm said is a good reason (not having to see Alexander's constipated expression).

I'll start with any of the four: American, Chinese, German, or Roman.

I'll use Dubya, Jiang Zeming, Helmut Kohl, and Romulus Augustulus as their respective leaders.
