Executions?
Should each civ leader be executed in a relevant way? In civ2 when you conquered the world we just saw a picture of their face and a guilitine falling. Perhaps we should have individual execution animations?

Ghandi and Abe Lincoln would be shot, Joan of Arc and Elizabeth would be beheaded (having Joan burned at the stake would be too risque).

They shouldn't show it being carried out, say just an animation of Elizabeth being led up to the block and Ghandi tied up whilst the firing squad counts down.

Maybe each civ should have its own method of executing other leaders? The Aztecs could sacrifice, the French guilotine and the Americans hang/shoot/lethally inject.

Any thoughts?

what do you mean, executions ? That Egyptian/Indian/pickaCiv leader has been a thorn in my side for the past 4000 years and you think he's going to get off that easily ?

"Torturers.. on your mark ! Let's see how long these freaks actually last !"

I think the faith of the loosing HP should be gradually more or less harsh & humiliating, depending how easy/hard it was for the AI-civs to win over him.

Besides, have you seen the defeat-screen yet? Im not sure if it really is the end-game defeat-screen, or if its available anytime as an added graphical variation of comparable demographic-status. I guess on can click on each head and read some respectful & respectless comments about your current playing-skill.

Yeah, I've seen the defeat screen. The 'beaten up' look isn't enough. I don't want Gandhi pummeled, I want him executed!

I wouldn't kill any of them. Use them as slaves, servants, pets!

Actually I did like the "conquered civs gallery" of civ 1 better than the guillotine way.

Am I the only one?

I think I can live with the screen as shown in the screenshot, though I too hope for some interaction in here.

Totally agree, this is just pointless. Firaxis should concentrate on the more important things, not making silly little excecution animations

Executions are politically incorrect anyway (unless you live in Texas) and since they couldn't include Fasism, they won't lt too many heads rolls. CivIII seems to be focusing on the cute factor anyway.

Cute ruins games. The roman leader should not look like some drunk fratboy, and what is up with Catherine? Who would want to play as that ugly one? Xerxes, who was quite the military leader, certaintly doesn't look that imposing.

I'm afraid of what is going to happen to Civ3.

Instead of creating animations for sickos where the enemy leader is beheaded/hanged/burned/disintegrated Firaxis could fix bugs and fasten the game code...

I hope the insults those enemy leaders deal out in the defeat gallery if I am defeated (remember, defeat is not an option!) are evil - that will ensure that I crush them even faster in the next game...

Actually, with the scenario tools in Civ2, you can make your own execution display, sort of. You can write a scenario with the following code:

Trigger:
Indians *destroyed*

display : ghandideath.gif

Then you can draw your own sick and gruesome death pic of ghandi getting fed to rabid dogs or whatever you like. Personally, I would make Cleopatra my b!tch. uuh uuh all night looooonnngggggg!!!

I would like to see things like concentration/death camps. I usually get mad at a Civ and completely kill them anyways, why not bring in organization?

It would be nice if when you captured the leader either they reveled some interesting info. Or if people you were at war with became afraid of you.

You MAY perform ethnic cleansing... just turn those unloyal alien population points into helpless workers and send them straight to the battlefield... nasty.
