Ok

Just tossed my good luck coin and won
(my pc screen is witness)

So it will be :

* No directed research
* Level Librarian
* No random events
* Fog of War
* AI factions Off
* Spoils of War Off
* Look before founding first city
I think we should go for a smaller planet size in this case (2. size), otherwise game would take forever, if all you agree.

I could play more or less every day this week, even tonight. So if you'd like to play in about 12 hours just write it here or contact me by ICQ.

My ICQ 6340904

Once you installed ICQ you also can just click on the flower under my name to add me.

Just noticed that Brendan probably won't be able to play tonight (Saturday morning for him) because of work ...
If so maybe we could have our first session tomorrow night (Sunday morning for Brendan) or on Sunday/Monday, as proposed by Spike. The latter wouldn't prolly work neither cause of Brendan's work schedule though

Yeah, we need to be careful about my disconnects every 2 hours though. I was playing civ2 tonight, and after 4 hours (the second disconnect) I couldnt regain control of my civ. A couple of turns later the host saved it. I just looked at the save, and the AI has stopped building 2 wonders (both of which were ready in 2-4 turns) and started building unnecessary barracks.

What's worse I don't think there's another save so that game is finished. Can whoever hosts save a lot!

Hello DrSpike,

I'll activate the autosave every turn option, that should be no problem.
Sorry for your Civ2 game

Not heard anything from Brendan about tonight

Hi guys,
I think I have most mornings off this week and im available to play Tomorrow morning if its not too late to organize. If we can't arrange it for then organize another night and I shouldn't have any problems being able to join in.

k, there were two problems when we played our test MP game the other night.

1) AI was included, even though I think Pawn set the game to have a maximum of 3 players.

2) The ironman option was enabled, meaning the game kept resetting if Pawn tried to save, which is annoying as I asked him to save regularly on account of my disconnections.

I just set up a game with myself (sniff), and these problems reoccurred. There must be a way to shut the AI off and only play with 4 humans, but I can't see how. The ironman option also doesn't seem to be there when you host a MP game.

Thoughts?

I just tried the same thing and did not exibit the iron man behaviour. I was able to save normally w/o probs.

I didn't have the patience to check the AI thing. Apparently, you can't cheat in MP ; so, I guess I've have to play it out to really find out.

Anyways, what vers are you all using. It may be version/localisation related.

Hello

The iron man issue is prolly a bug in the game if you play a SP game with iron man before starting a MP game and should now be solved (tested).
Concerning the AI Spike saw in our game with Traumahawk last night maybe I forgot to set 3 players max. We should start a new game with 4 players since, as far as I know it IS possible to play MP without AI factions
I use SMAC v 4 French and never had problems playing with other people using English versions.

I won't be able to play tomorrow night, but I'll be there on Wednesday night (would be Thursday in the morning for Brendan) ...

Waiting for our real start

Don't know it different versions are compatible but the simplest would be to just all have v. 4 (the last 1). Just press Ctrl + F4 in game to display yours.
Brendan just let us know your ICQ pls if we are going to start tomorrow

I'll be available tonight and probably tomorrow, too (Spike should also be there). Feel free to message me if you'd like to play soon
Still didn't receive Brendan's ICQ though

Come on guys, lets get this sorted. I propose we start a game either Saturday night at the agreed time, or perhaps Monday night.

Brendan I'll tell you my IP address by ICQ message. All you got to do then is start SMAC --> MP game --> TCP/IP game and enter my ip address.

Well,

Since Spike and I waited (again) for our 'friends' (Brendan) to show up tonight and (at least) I lost another 1-2 hours waiting for nuts, without even getting an answer I'm closing this thread now
This was a sad experience for me seeing how little respect was shown by some people here
Even if it's only a game I expected to get at least a message saying 'I'm sorry but I changed my mind, playing this smac game pisses me off' or something like that ...
