CivIII limited edition, or just vanilla?
I have every intention of attempting to get the LE. But with the possibility of limited supply (well, never was a possibility, but a fact) this may be a daunting task.

Let us know what your intentions are, just for fun.

Providing the cost isn't too much extra I will buy the LE. But I will have to wait to see if it is available at the same time as the SE. If not, the standard edition it will have to be...it isn't too high a priority to have the biscuit tin...

Well, either way I want it! But if the SE is available sooner, I will buy both....

If it is as nice as civ2 I will do another 10 years with it, so it will be worth all that money...

I reserved a LE copy when it went gold (as I had planned all along) at me local EB.

I really am not all that interested in the extras. But it was only $10 more, which is not that big a deal to me for the most anticipated game of my life. It would be worth $60 for just the regular edition if it's even close to the enjoyment I got out of Civ2. Since there is a possibility I may enjoy the extras, why not pay $10 extra??

The deciding factor for me is how good the tin is a removing seeds and stems from errrr...

No seriously, if I can find the LE then sure, I'll pay an extra ten spot, but I'll settle for the regular, being that I am, in fact, a mere settler and probably will be for a while.

I'm going with the standard, I've never been much for LE's. However if LE is all the store has at the time then I'll go with that, $10 is better then waiting.

I plan to wait some weeks before (eventually) buy Civ III because I am not an idiot, thanks for asking .

BTW, I never mean that someone buying the game pre-ordering it in advance is an idiot: it's only the (just kidding?) tone of Anunikoba's poll that force this kind on naming on people.

Just let me tell that in this forum I see for the first time the power of Marketing working full steam over the mind of so many people. Amazing!

He only used the word idiot to describe people who are never going to buy the game, just because you want to play it safe and wait a little bit doesn't necessarily put you into this category.

Thanks Steve, but is not that I'm offended from Anunikoba (you can see my smile inside the post).

Just wondering why sometime people seems a bit carried away from reality when speaking about Civ III.

Probaly is the shock I still feel after the monday Airplane disaster crash at Linate airport (City airport of Milano - Italy), considering I was at that airport just a week ago.
A hundred and 18 died, surely less that in the bloody 11th september in USA, but still an accident worth some tears.

I'm truly sorry to hear that, that is definately a tragedy worth some tears. I think people just like to use Civ as their release from reality, I know I do (pathetic huh?). While I believe being optimisitic is a good thing not everything is going to go perfect with the game, that's a given. There is nothing wrong with wanting to wait and see how it turns out before buying the game, if the game really does end up sucking you just saved $50. On the other hand if you want to rush out and play it the first day it's released, more power to you, that's capitalism baby.

At first, I didn't think I'd be getting the LE, but then I realized that I'm an addict and have no control over my purchases. LE it is.

He might get both to sell the LE on eBay after it's no longer available. Look at something like Axis & Allies: Iron Blitz... no longer available and selling for $100 a shot on eBay. People will pay for this kind of stuff.

hmm, I never thought of a computer game as an investment.. that could actually be a good way to go. The only bad part is I would be too tempted to open it for the fold-out tech tree and extra scenario.

I can't vote with a clean conscience...

I need a "I will buy LE because I'm covered in a mildly dooming blanket of Civ-craze for way too long already -but I realize it is just wasting money, I truly do!" option.

If the LE is indeed only going to be 10 bucks more than the regular edition and LE is available at the store I buy from then I'll get the LE. If not my highest priority is to get the game in any form. I'll try to get LE later provided that word on the street is favourable.

Long live the only game that matters!!!
