Physical manual
I know this has been discussed before, and i was one of the sheep under the beliefe that firaxis woud not let us down with a pdf file, but take a look at this, from civfans, oriinally from CGO...

Quote:
I played my first actual game of Civ III last night, though I wasn't able to print out the 250 page manual, so I don't have a great grasp on all the rules yet. Got my butt kicked on the lowest difficulty level .

HIGHLIGHT - I WASN' ABLE TO PRINT OUT THIE 250 page MANUAL.
now, i don't know if this is just because it is an advance copy, but it seems ominous to me. does this always happen in advance copy games?

and dont tell me this is a stupid thread (cough*fufu*cough) i know it is, i just wanted to see what people think

Yah, I'm guessing it's just because it's an advance order. I'm betting as person got was the games and teh PDF.

Relax, Civ III in a little more than 16 days, game's gone gold, and I'm finally unbanned. Everything will be OK!

For this, my very first thread ever. Six pages of terrible, terrible spam...

http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...threadid=28161

But those days are over.

Anyway, I hope it's a real manual, or I'll be anrgy...

Somebody already confirmed the game comes with a paper manual, not a .pdf file. It wasn't Dan, but it was somebody from Firaxis..

Yeah, I would expect that if it is an advance order, they would not be equipped with manuals yet. And another thing. I have seen fatter DVD boxes that could accommodate a manual in them as well, it would just be the same size as a normal DVD box, but an inch thicker. I have seen one of these for the most recent version of Myst, and I would expect something similar would be done with Civ3.

Could Firaxis be kind enough to release the PDF manual? Give us something to read while we suffer, counting down the seconds till Civ3 arrives.

Please! I'm begging you Firaxis! What's the harm?

I'm sure all the idiots who pirate the game would love that!

Seriously, the way games are ripped off no company is going to release a .pdf manual of a new release.

Pirates don't usually care about the manuals, it's kind of hard to play with only the manual.

Eh, a pirate benefits quite a lot from a manual - for instance he can play his pirated game a lot easier...

But how do you know the PDF won't come with the CD? I've seen several games that have done just that. I doubt not having a manual is gonna stop a pirate.

yes it will affect pirates, like guybrush threeepwood
maybe you will need the manual to play
we seem to be going back to when you ned the manual to find out what the 45 word on page 78 was to play the game, only now its unique numbers so is even better, and more pirate proof. most abandonware needs stuff from the manual so people just copy out all the codes and distibute them or hack the game, unique numbers stop that. like on black and white. that has numbers.

You're assuming that the manual is required. Since Firaxis has said nothing on the matter and most games don't need it, I will assume it is not.
