civ3 limited edition (question)
will the civ3 limited edition be available at stores, or only in pre-orders?

I don't know, but it appears that people are pre-ordering the LE more than expected.

I just prepaid in full for my LE today at Gamestop.com at the mall. The manager told me that most people are not paying in full in advance, but since I did that she will make sure my copy is set aside in the back and kept safe for me until I pick it up.

mine is preordered at my local electronics boutique. . and i got the limited edition (how could any true civ fan get less? )

so, yes, both the standards and limited editions will be available in stores. presumably, they'll not completely sell out, but you never know. .

yeah, better be safe than sorry. depends on where you are, for europeans, i guess, there is no other way but preorder

CB has a rather sloppy customers service though. i am trying for a week already to get a confirmation of the redirection of my shipment. they are maintaining complete radio silence

Ya... Electronics Boutique is selling the LE version. I went there yesterday to have my copy reserved and they asked me which one I wanted... the regular or the LE!

Well who knows what is happening here. I have still not seen a supplier revise their release date yet despite what Firaxis are saying and no sign of the LE...so I am not entirely sure...

I have no idea if BTE will be available soon after
the release in stores. Europe might get it in
spring -02. Or will we...?

Poor little me preordered BTE from Amazon.com,
but now it looks like my card has been listed
as stolen/lost. And I can't get it back from
the bank until Wednesday. Old good me has once
again caused trouble at the wrong time.

I guess I won't have the LE. The only thing I'm sorry about is the tech tree. I'm going to make it myself and it's going to be the best tech tree on the planet. No, seriously.
Well, but I have the Championship Manager 0102 one day before the release in UK (12.10.2001). And yes, it's the original, and yes it was completely free
BTW, LaRusso, hello.

Well, just to be sure I ordered 75.000 copies!

Seriously, I think it is possible that 75.000 are being pre-ordered. I pre-ordered it and I think many others did as well.

I think it is going to be a splendid game, a big improvement over a game that is already fantastic!

The only down-side are all those sleepless nights......

I agree campmajor!

I think Firaxis has not taken a light approach to updating CIV III, but rather, they've incorporated some pretty radical new design concepts that will alter the way we play the game, and I'm really looking forward to it.

We have:

1) Culture;
2) A completely new trade system;
3) Supply routes;
4) Resources that are vital to an economy;
5) A barganing table;
6) Armies and great leaders;
7) Zones of control;
8) CIV uniqueness;
9) Better graphics and sound;
10) Borders;
11) Major and minor wonders...

This is huge! I remember Jeffrey Morris saying that he is no longer a fan of radical changes for a sequel, but I think that Firaxis has come close to making this a radican departure from CIV II.

I can't wait for this game!

I just wondered why someone said that it's too
late to preorder Civ III BTE...

But seriously, have you preordered Civ III (normal/BTE)?

Looks like we'll have to send some over to US for buying a few
hundred copies of Civ III BTE.

Volunteers?

I pre-ordered the Limited Edition. What does BTE stand for?

I think civ3 is worth every $ I spend on it, so all those extra costs of shipping I take for granted! Heck, I even bought a new PC because of the performance specs....

No confirmed news of a special edition outside of the US and it really doesn't include anything I felt worth extra money - except the tech tree, which should come in the standard edition like it did for Civ 1, 2 and SMAC.

Correct! Sid Meier's Civilization III Biscuit Tin Edition.

P.S. Just to make sure - the tin doesn't
contain any cookies.

I'm ready to pay 72.95$ (Amazon.com) for my BTE,
because I wan't that tin and I want it abit faster.
But I'm not ready to pay for a new PC, just so that
I could play Civ III.

Not true. I live in the UK and phoned up my EB today. They confirmed they have two SKUs (the barcode and ids) for Civ3 one is for the standard and one for the LE. Just preordered the LE.

Thats interesting news. Both amazon.co.uk and EBGames.co.uk only have the regular version for preorder online.

The Tin vice a cardboard box (nice to have as a Civ Snack Bin)

The making of Civ3 Video (I consider this just "fluff")

A fold-out Technological Reasearch Chart (This is the MAIN reason I've ordered the LE!)

Have to go soon...... someone tell me please.

( BTE - Better Than Ever )

Crosspost - thankyouthankyouthankyou wittlich.

And now I'm away for the day..... toodles.

( don't know I'll bother. The chart is cool but there's one built into the game anyway and the making of video would just frustrate me that I'm not working for firaxis )

so let's say you haven't bought civ 3 yet... what's the best option rite now? to preorder it online or to preorder it at a store in terms of quickness (in getting the game, do the ones online hafta wait an extra day to receive it), cost, etc.
