Thumbs up to Firaxis!
We've had enough threads about small negative points so how about small positive points.

My first I think will have to be;

for the units being fully colour co-ordinated. It will really add to the atmosphere.

Thank you Firaxis for putting so much more emphasis on diplomacy and trade! ...and thank you for giving civilizations real reasons for going to war!

Thanks Firaxis for the improved graphics, the super cool unit animations.

But most of all, thanks for the new concepts and the emphasis on fun. Super thanks for diplomacy, trade, culture, and ressources!

For making the best game ever for the 3rd time!
For giving me more excuses to miss sleep (Civ 2 excuse is getting old with my folks)
For creating an immersive game
For giving mroe ways to win
For giving economy and resources and culture their proper palce
For many things which I can't put at once

What I'm not sure of
= Greater Diplomacy (we need more options to influence people politically - tell them to do something, not just open war)
= Better significance for intelligence
= Better significance for spy and ocommando actions

( for unique civs)

Not to be the downer or anything but we don't really need to thank Firaxis for them doing their JOB. Should I tell Joe at McDonalds "thanks" for taking my order?

To be the nice, little, happy, Firaxis worshipper I will say this: You did brilliant work on many aspects of the game, in turn improving the game greatly, as it seems.

...

This post should satisfy both the pessimists and optimists with my comments.

Oh, I'll buy the game alright, but I won't thank Firaxis for making the game. I'll be happy they made the game, but they don't deserve a thank you. I mean if I thank Firaxis I will have to start thanking Joe down at McDonalds.

Imran I'm going to fall for every cheap, scam Firaxis comes up with. I'm very happy to hear that I will have to pay extra money for MP, so that cute guy down there at Firaxis...what's his name...ah yes Sid...as I was saying...so Sid can buy himself a new sports car of some sort. That Sid guy sure is a character with all his tricks he has up his sleeves. Why don't all game companies charge extra for MP?

[Optimist Reply]
No, doubt about it will I buy Civ3. How could I ever pass up on a tremendous game like Civ3? Civ3 is going to bring world peace and happiness to all.

I'm just afraid I'll have to go out and buy the stuff for multiplayer rather than get what else would be on that add on over the internet. By that i mean multiplayer isn't at all important to me so I want additional civs and bug fixes and scenarios but I don't really want the multiplayer so I'm just worried they will make it all into an add-on costing an extortionate ammount rather than just a able-to-download patch like it could be without the multiplayer.

Doesn't mean I won't buy it. But I'll send a little rain cloud over sids head when he goes to the bank to cash in if I'm made to......

There are certainly some promising signs. And there certainly are some not-so-promising signs. I'll wait to judge.

But here's one: Thanks for the screensaver! (...it crashes every time it closes, though ).
