Is the game good!?!?!
Nobody's giving feedback yet on how they liked the game.

Tell us how it plays so we can decide to buy it...or not.

1. How is the AI?

2. What feature changes from Civ2 are good/bad.

3. What bugs/cheats/issues in civ2 have been fixed (autosettler irrigate, etc.)

4. What annoying things from Civ2 haven't been fixed? (autosettler irrigate, etc.)

5. How is the ambiance of the game? Wonder movies, advisor movies, music, etc.

6. How is the speed and playabillity in terms of interface.

I don't think that many have the game yet, but those that do are giving what they can. If I had the game now, I wouldn't even be able to spell Apolyton.

Of course all the idiots will come in and say how good they think it is but we won't really know for at least 2 weeks judging by past game releases.

Wait till some expert players get hold of it.

OK, this is the info I distilled from the threads so far:

1) Graphics and Sound seem very good.

2) Interface possibly a bit annoying.

3) Map gets very crowded fast, which can be good or bad.

4) No scenarios.

Not much real info otherwise.

I'm sure it's painful being a settler on a board full of princes, kings, and warlords, but don't use spam to increase your rank. If you absolutely have to spam, learn from the master first.

AH, forr once I agree with you. And Mark and Dan are not expert players. IIRC, they played Civ2 on prince! We should have gotten an advance copy for Ming. I'd trust that.

Its Uberkrux's avatar but he's been banned for a week so I'm keeping the multiplayer flag flying in his absence

Hi Uberkrux - hope you don't mind

Very thoughtful of you. What did he do to get banned this time?

Again? Man, I've been on this board 4 weeks and he's been banned for two of them.

Still, that's the best avatar I've seen. Glad to see someone keeping it present at all times

Comrade,

Thanks for the feedback. No scenarios sounds like a step back. At least 2.42 has WW2 and rome.

1. How is the AI?

Horrible.

2. What feature changes from Civ2 are good/bad.

The good is gone, and CTP2-esque "features" have been introduced

3. What bugs/cheats/issues in civ2 have been fixed (autosettler irrigate, etc.)

No bugs have been fixed, in fact, many more have been introduced. The AI cheats now more than ever. And I can't even begin to list the issues so far.

4. What annoying things from Civ2 haven't been fixed? (autosettler irrigate, etc.)

Nothing has been fixed.

5. How is the ambiance of the game? Wonder movies, advisor movies, music, etc.

I could have done a better job on the Wonder movies with my 3 year old handicam. The music is a cross between 70's disco and modern R&B, if done by a cat.

6. How is the speed and playabillity in terms of interface.

Let me just say this, CTP's interface puts Civ3's to shame. As for speed, CTP scrolls faster on my 486SX33 than Civ3 on my dual P4 2.0 gig system.
PS I don't have Civ3, I'm just channelling my psychic powers to answer these questions.
