Limited edition arrives
My limited edition arrived yesterday, and I would conclude that it is only limited to as many as want to pay the extra $20.

The video was interesting, but quite brief, and the tech chart looks something like 4 screen shots pasted together, accordian fashion. I was hoping for a chart like the ones that came with CivII, which had the whole tech tree in one big picture on one side and came with useful tables and charts about terrain and units on the reverse. I would have preferred plastic containers for storing the CD's, instead of the double sleeved cardboard container. The game components look lost within the vast tin container once all the cardboard is discarded, so I may end up using it for storing cookies!

In spite of these minor details, I still think I've gotten a first class game, well worth what I have paid for it. This is what really counts, but if Firaxis is listening, why not go first first class with all of the game components, too?

On second thought, my 2 previous edtions of Civ will also fit comfortably in that tin, too. Thanks for making room for keeping all three together!

I bought the LE version yesterday.

I agree. Cardboard container for the CDs, tacky.
Didn't bother looking at the bonus cd since I wanted to play. And why do I suspect that I'll never get around to it.

I'll just chalk it down as spending the extra money on the Tin Box.

Good thought using it to store all the old stuff, Since it looks like I'll need the old CD for MP for quite a while yet.

Geeze, I'm surprised at all the whining.

YOU PEOPLE ROUTINELY BEAT STRATEGY GAMES.
So I know you're not uncreative morons.

I can't believe you have figured out a way to get it earlier.

Get creative and aggressive. OR don't whine.

GO SCAM SOMEONE.

I tried (and someone else had) but:

You call that trying.

That restriction doesn't affect private citizens. Try bribing any number of US posters here. Anything can be had if the desire and price is right Hell, if the only place I could pick up a copy wasn't 20 miles away, I would have probably offered to buy a copy or two and ship them.

i agree about the tech tree fold out and the tacky cardboard cd holders but i like the tin .

i feel sorry for the non-North americans, to think i'm about 5 minutes away (its not far but traffic can be fierce) from EB that had what looked to be 40 or more LE's on display (yesterday morning)... oh well, y'all we just have to play civ2 MP or something

Great stuff

Don't worry, until and MP version comes out, the CIVII disc will be happily spinning away in my drive for quite a while longer.

I became creative.
Let me explain. Since a "business convention" will be held in Rome in the next few days , I started to stress some colleagues coming from NY (who of course don't know anything about Civ ) and I've started to ask them several times a day if they can purchase and take me one Civ III copy...
Will they be creative enough to accomplish such task? I hope so (even if knowing my colleagues... )

I'll keep you informed.

Some of you might not still have heard of
the campaign for a worldwide release and
right for internation shipments from US.
The campaign is going under the name
The Bisquit Tin Coalition.

I suggest that you take a look at this thread

hey solo...
You better believe a fellow Lowellian like myself got the LEdition too! I must agree with pretty much what you said... tech tree 'napkin' as i like to call it is lame, designer's notes is like a thank you letter on pretty paper , and the lack of jewel cases for the cd's was rather dissapointing too.

BTW, I really enjoyed watching Sid play the piano in that 'making of civ3' disk.

I pre-ordered mine from Amazon.com a few weeks ago. I go on vacation last week to North Dakota and what do I see but four or five copies on a shelf in a store. I get back from vacation and mine isn't here yet. Why did I bother to pre-order??
