Start Location

I played the world map as Americans but my start location was in South America (where Argentina is by and large).

Is it possible to start in the real location? (east coast of NA?)

Is this a fluke or do I have to go in the scenario editor and create some sort of scenario where my start location is fixed?

I would like the start location of each civ to correspond to their real geographical location ...

Any ideas?

No.

At least no one has been able to do it yet, tough as it is to believe that such a feature was neglected.

Let us know if you have any better luck.

But if you're using the earth map included with the game, I suspect you'll be disappointed, anyway. Someone's already come up with an improved version, though...look in the Creation forum...but without the ability to fix starting locations, you'll have to restart several times before you find one that's acceptable.

I know what you mean about the default world map being bad...

The "huge" map is closer to "tiny" than huge and the continent's shape is funny.

I'm not upset about it, though. Best maps I ever played in Civ2 where user-made. Civ games always ship with useless maps.

I'll keep on working on that start location thingy.

Overall I have to make my compliments to the developers of this game. I love it!! Great job!!!
