Mysterious Game Crash
I'm using the version of Civ2 bundled with Fantastic Worlds, and trying to make a scenario. For some reason, something I did recently causes the game to crash each time the diplomacy screen comes up. I get to the first screen of diplomacy ("Greetings, from he who makes mortals tremble: President Clinton of the Americans") and then the game collapses.

Anybody know what's going wrong?

The last thing I changed was the cities.gif file.

Also, another little oddity is that all the enemy cities are large cities, even if they're only size 8 or something like that. Could this be related to the crash?

Umm, that sounds really strange...
Have you tried to run your scn with another city.gif, for instance the original Civ2 file?

Yes, I tried substituting the original cities.gif from the core directory into the scenario directory. That doesn't stop it from crashing.

I'm sure it's not something to do with the save game, since I have loaded up earlier previously-fine save games and had them crash again. I have extensively altered the RULES.txt, the PEDIA.txt, and the GAME.txt files. Odd.

Try to run the scn completely with original game files (gifs and txts). Then replace step by step one of the original files with one of yours and start the scn. If all runs well, replace the next file and so on. If the game chrashes you have found out the "buggy" file, then try to find the problem...lots of work, but I hope it helps.
