For those with 64MB RAM & 300-400Mhz
If you have intensive disc swapping, you should turn music off.
This will increase perfromanse significaly & make the game playable
(even with 16 civs on Huge World).

Thanks, I will try it (although, so far playing on smaller maps, the game was running very smoothly).

Nikomed, for this game MOST IMPORTANT thing is RAM,
since you have enough, that's ok, but I think that your Mhz are but to low.
Maybe turning off animations & sounds?

Yeah, I know
But why whould they put:
32 MB minimum ( , what a joke!)
64 MB recomended (doesn't seem so)

This should probably be more correct:
64 MB minimum
128+ MB recomended

Anyway about speed of procesor, recomendations are Ok.
I don't have any problems (except disc swapping, becoase of RAM), with speed of mine 333Mhz celeron & my Intel710 sound card (PCI version).
With music turned off, disc swapping is lowerd & speed increased significantly (still swapping from time, to time).
All this on Large maps tested.

Anyway if someone has similar conf. & want to upgrade computer to play the game more enjoably, he should first BUY MORE RAM.

P.S. I mean faster then CTP2 if music is turned off.

It's probably since music is dynamic & chages often, so comp. ofted loads music from hard disc.

I have a P2-266 Mhz and it runs like a charm, with or w/o music. Only thing that could be a bit faster to my taste is the loading time of the savegame which becomes quite long in the end-game.

Zoe... (don't remember the name), do you have 64MB or 128MB of RAM.

I think if I could have 128+ MB of RAM, that game would run almost smoothly (with music).

366Cel, 128MB, runs fine. Saves take forever to load in the late Industrial and Modern Ages though...

Well, I play on Cel333 with 32 megs.

Music off, animations off

Well, it does work faster than CtP2 did.

Also, trying to limit the usage of city screens and advisors greatly helps - these are the slowest parts.

I just want to thank the creators, that you can now do almost anything with right mouse button, not needing to switch to the above mentioned screen.

Still, it took me 3 days to get to 1400 AD on chieftain level (due to slowness, not my inability to play), but I`m enjoying it.

So, 32 M is not a joke - it works!

P3, 750mhz, 256mb Ram. Game functions perfectly. Blazing load times, short turn waits, and no crashes. I love it!!
