effects of luxuries/happiness on corruption
I have seen several comments here which seem to indicate that raising Luxuries and as a consequence happiness has a positive inpact on lowering corruption.

Can anyone confirm this? If so, how does it work.

Read pages 118-119 about We Love the King Day.

For example doing so raised the production from 1 shield out of 12-13? to 5 in one of my cities in a recent game. It's still a lot of corruption but the difference between making something in 50 turns and 10 is pretty huge.
