Tried to win by culture but didnt make it so I ended up with a Space race victory.

Had all North + South + Australia. Dont understand why ppl complain so much about corruption if corruption were lower I could easy have taken over the whole world.

Ps: I used Communism as goverment

That's the biggest myth there is. Less corruption will help the AI more than it does you. You can use leaders, rush build courthouses, workers, & fine tune *each aspect* of *each city*etc. etc. to offset corruption MUCH better than the AI can. The AI is stuck with the worthless governors & gets halted in it's tracks at any large empire because of corruption, this allows you to continue to expand where they cannot. I'm looking forward to that patch!

You mean there isn't some virtual forum where all of the AI governors in Civ3 are getting together and figuring out strategies to get around corruption so they can beat the human players?

Interesting take -- I hadn't thought of it like that.

Yes surprising that there isn't an AI virtual forum. But more importantly the AI isn't programmed to solve corruption (viewing their cities prove that) & fine tune cities like we do. Hope that cleared up your confusion.

1150 with Iroquois in 1960 - unfortunately I have no oil, and in fact can't find a single oil on the map (apart from one off-shore one, which is useless), so I guess I'll just have to grind the Americans down with Cavalry/Artillery combos and go for the long haul...

This was a week ago, so bear with me.

~4,000 points
French
Space Race Victory
Close to year 2,000

I had taken over the Germans and all of their land, the Russians too, almost all of the Greeks, and was making inroads into several other enemies. Not the usual Space Race ending, but I was growing tired of war!

Best score that I have gotten so far by a good bit. I think it was a Monarch game.

Many people have posted 10,000+ scores on Tiny maps. It's quite obvious the smaller the map the higher score. Score isn't game balanced for the map sizes otherwise we would see 10,000+ scores for huge maps.

i think the main reason for not seeing 10000+ scores on big maps is -> not many people had 2 weeks time to real play a single game on a huge map.

thats all. tiny maps are more fun (quicker game)

I think we don't see that scores in big maps because probably their not possible. For what i have seen so far what weights more in score is the territory you control. So playing in a tiny map and being militaristic since the biggining leads to those huge scores. Maybe i'm wrong...

Game setup: Americans, 8 civs, huge map, restless barbs

Victory: Space Race, 1966 (only defeated one civ - Germans)

I think you get more points for conquering civs and gaining a victory as early as possible.

Happy citzens add an awful lot.

Ive had tremendous success from a scoring perspective playing Monarch Pangea Huge 16 civs pulling 4000 to 5000 as I complete the modern ages (I dont build space ships, I just get bored when the turns get to long)

Oil appearing off-shore was NOT programmed by Firaxis. So if you were stupid enough to download & play a mod without understanding the risks that mod did then that's your fault.
