Can you upgrade units in an army?

Is there any way to upgrade units after they've been made part of an army? I have an army of three tanks, and I can now make modern tanks and have upgraded my individual tanks using shift-U. The army wasn't updated. It was in a city with a barracks, and several tanks stacked with it were upgraded.

I've yet to find a way to upgrade units in an army, or to unload them out of it, either.

It really needs to be patched to allow units to come into, and out of armies. Tonight, I was moving a swordsman into my army producing city, and instead of clicking on the disband button, I accidentally loaded it into the empty army. On the turn that I discovered motorized transport, no less! I was so pissed, I disbanded the army, to get a jump on the next one...

You cant. The beta version allowed you to upgrade and swap units in and out of armies, but it made the army too powerful, so they changed it.
Just make sure you put good units in the army in the first place

i don't think the army is implemented very well.
hardly ever use it good for defence though
